Stuart Armstrong apparently aggravated a calf injury during the warm-up, so the Celtic midfielder's absence looks more cautionary than serious.

With Callum McGregor coming off the bench to replace him, Emilio Izaguirre has been added to the subs' bench.

Stuart Armstrong has been one of the real success stories under Brendan Rodgers. That's a big blow. I think he will go straight into the Scotland team, the way he's been playing. Callum McGregor is quick and sharp and has good feet in and around the box.

Celtic's only 'blip' in the league was a 2-2 draw away to Inverness Caley Thistle back in September.

Since then, it's been 16 straight wins, still some way short of the 25-in-a-row under Martin O'Neill in season 2003-04.

The teams emerge from the tunnel to a packed stadium on what could be a record-breaking day for Celtic.

  10. If you read the historypublished at 12:56 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2017

Celtic are seeking a fourth straight win over Hearts, who have not beaten their hosts in their last 16 meetings since a 2-1 win in the Scottish Cup semi-final in April 2012.

Hearts have to go back to October 2011 for their last league win over Celtic and to October 2009 for their last win over the Glasgow side at Celtic Park - 1-0 in a League Cup tie.

  11. Armstrong blow for Celticpublished at 12:54 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2017

Having already lost Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths to injury, Celtic will now have to do without Stuart Armstrong.

The in-form midfielder has been injured in the warm-up and is replaced in the starting line-up with Callum McGregor.

Scotland head coach Gordon Strachan will hope that Armstrong has not picked up a serious injury as it looked like the former Dundee United player was about to be recalled to the national squad.

I give Craig Gordon huge credit for adapting his game at the age of 34. If the offer is right and he wants to go, Celtic won't stand in his way. The club will benefit financially and Craig will benefit financially at the end of his career

The visitors are close to securing Greek international defender Alexandros Tziolis on a deal until the end of the season. They're also hoping to add another central defender before the window closes on Tuesday night.

  14. Revival under Cathro?published at 12:46 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2017

Hearts will hope to take confidence and build on Wednesday's Scottish Cup win over Raith Rovers.

However, it took a replay and extra-time to edge them past the Championship side and they have only won twice in their last eight outings, seven of which have been since Ian Cathro took over as head coach.

The Edinburgh side have failed to win in their last seven games away from Tynecastle, although four of those have been draws.

On our question of whether Scott Brown is a Celtic legend after 400 club appearances, Alexander McCulloch says: Scott Brown, one of the best British midfielders today.

Meanwhile, few think many of today's Celtic team would force themselves into the Lisbon Lions side.

Kenneth McCann: Maybe only Henrik Larrson in the last 17 years never mind today.

Andrew Mulholland: Maybe Tierney and that's it.

  16. Rodgers wants to keep Gordonpublished at 12:40 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2017

Brendan Rodgers is sticking to his line from Friday that he wants to retain Craig Gordon and that Chelsea have offered nothing like Celtic's valuation of the Scotland goalkeeper.

"When myself and my staff came in here, Craig Grodon was a far cry from what he is now and he got himself back in our team," the Celtic manager told BBC Radio Scotland when asked if Gordon would like to speak to the English Premier League leaders.

"Chelsea have an interest and, for that to be activated, the offer has to be at a level that can make us think and it is nowhere near that.

"I have had a few conversations with him and he knows where we are at."

  18. Three changes for Heartspublished at 12:36 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2017

Celtic make one alteration from Wednesday's 1-0 win over St Johnstone, with winger Patrick Roberts taking over from the injured Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair moving up front.

Hearts make three changes to the side that started the extra-time Scottish Cup replay win over Raith Rovers.

Liam Smith replaces injured new signing Andaz Struna at right-back and fit-again midfielders Don Cowie and Sam Nicholson come in for Prince Buaben and Rory Currie, the young striker who made a scoring debut on Wednesday.

  19. Dembele and Griffiths injured - Rodgerspublished at 12:32 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2017

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that injuries have ruled out Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths, meaning that Scott Sinclair will play up front.

"Moussa got injured on Wednesday night and there was swelling around his knee," he told BBC Radio Scotland.

"Leigh has been struggling with injury for some time and had tightness in his other calf after Wednesday, but it is a chance for other good players to come in.

"The story with Scott is that, when we took him to Chelsea, he was a striker and it was my fault that I put him on the left, but he will be comfortable enough up there."

  20. A Gordon for Chelsea?published at 12:26 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2017

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping to fend off Chelsea's interest in goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

The 34-year-old signed for the Scottish champions in 2014 after two years out through injury and has 18 months to run on his current deal.

"He can go until for another four or five years," said Rodgers earllier this week. "He could go on playing until he is 40.

"He has the chance here to continue enjoying what he has been doing here, playing the game at a high level, hopefully winning trophies and hopefully playing Champions league football."

Gordon would be an understudy to Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge, but it might be a tempting financial move.
