  1. goal

GOAL - Cagliari 0-1 Juventuspublished at 37 mins

    Gonzalo Higuain

Turns out Juventus were just lulling the home defence into a false sense of security. Gonzalo Higuain times his run on to a through ball, and chips beyond advancing goalkeeper Rafael from a tight angle. Seven goals in seven games for the Argentina international, and 17 in Serie A for the season - one behind Roma's Edin Dzeko, about whom you will hear more at half-time...

    Cagliari 0-0 Juventus

You can probably tell from all this digression that it's fairly quiet at Cagliari. A patient Juventus passing move ends with Paulo Dybala sending a shot miles over the bar from about 20 yards.

    Atletico Madrid 1-1 Celta Vigo

Incidentally, that is the third penalty that Atletico Madrid have failed to convert in three games. Antoine Griezmann had one saved against Leganes last weekend, and Kevin Gameiro skied over the bar against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey in midweek. Don't they practice them in training?

  5. PENALTY TO ATLETICOpublished at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2017

    Atletico Madrid 1-1 Celta Vigo

It's not our main game this evening - simply because it has less of an impact at the top of its league - but the match at the Vicente Calderon Stadium is proving a cracking watch. A lovely Celta Vigo move ends with Jozabed striking the post from 20 yards - and now Atletico have a penalty...

    Cagliari 0-0 Juventus

Cagliari defending solidly, as Juve start to get on top here. Juan Cuadrado, the matchwinner against Inter last weekend, spies a chance to play in a cross in the direction of Mandzukic and Higuain, but there's no way through yet.

Dave Wood: Torres just rolled the clock back about 10 years with that strike.

He did, Dave. He really did.

That Fernando Torres goal for Atletico Madrid really was sensational. I know he's had his critics down the years, but he is capable of brilliance when he's on his game.

In honour of that moment, I'd like you to nominate your goal of the season so far. It can be in any league, at any level: From Premier League to Sunday league. Give me a little description as well, just in case I haven't seen it. (Which I won't have done if it was your mate scoring for the Dog and Partridge.) Tweet to #bbceurofooty, and I'll post a selection up here. Ta.

  9. Chiellini forced offpublished at 18 mins

    Cagliari 0-0 Juventus

Well, here's an unexpected development. Giorgio Chiellini's night is over, and I just wonder if the Juve defender did himself some damage in stretching for that challenge on Barella. Chiellini cannot continue, and Daniele Rugani is on in his place.

    Cagliari 0-0 Juventus

Another Juve booking, this one deserved, quickly follows, as Giorgio Chiellini is late on Nicolo Barella right on the edge of the area. Cagliari ask if the challenge is inside the box. It isn't.

Bruno Alves, who can get some welly behind a free-kick, gives it the full blast, but clears the bar.

    Cagliari 0-0 Juventus

Back on Sardinia, Juve full-back Stephan Lichtsteiner is perhaps a little unlucky to see yellow for his first foul of the game. Yes, he sends Marco Boriello flying through the air, but the challenge wasn't that bad as the Cagliari forward made it look.

    Fernando Torres (11 mins)

My word. That is brilliant. Atletico went behind to a messy goal, but the response is sublime. Yannick Carrasco crosses from the left towards Fernando Torres who, back to goal, controls the ball and then hooks a volley over his shoulder. The crowd watches, then gasps, as the ball loops over the goalkeeper into the top corner. A cracking start to the game.

    Cagliari 0-0 Juventus

Almost a goal at the Stadio Sant'Elia too. Juve, having absorbed some early Cagliari pressure, attack down the right. Juan Cuadrado swings over a cross, and Mario Mandzukic flings himself at it - but fouls a defender in the process as the ball drops wide.

    Gustavo Cabral (5 mins)

A goal already at the Vicente Calderon Stadium, and it has gone to the visitors. Atletico keeper Miguel Angel Moya with an absolutely feeble punch from a corner, and Gustavo Cabral heads in the loose ball from six yards.

Barella swings that corner over, and it's the dependable Giorgio Chiellini, back in the Juventus defence after his midweek breather, who gets his boot to the ball to clear.

    Cagliari 0-0 Juventus

First clattering challenge of the game, with less than 30 seconds gone. Juve midfielder Claudio Marchisio ctaches Nicolo Barella with a high boot. The Cagliari free-kick is dealt with, but the home side keep on the pressure and win a corner.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2017

    Cagliari 0-0 Juventus

This is Max Allegri's 100th Serie A match in charge of Juventus. He's won most of them - including the last four. Will he get to celebrate the century in style? Gianpaolo Calvarese, the referee, gets us going. Cagliari in red and navy halves, Juve in an all-white change strip.

We're off and running in Madrid too.

  18. Meanwhile, in Madrid...published at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2017

Atletico Madrid v Celta Vigo (19:45 GMT)

    Spanish La Liga

Something of a quirk in La Liga's fixture list this weekend: Yesterday, the two teams who came through the midweek Copa del Rey semi-finals met each other - with Barcelona winning 6-0 at Alaves.

Tonight, it's the two losing semi-finalists who face off, as Atletico Madrid seek to revive their push for Champions League qualification at home to Celta Vigo. We'll have updates from the Vicente Calderon Stadium throughout the evening.

And after being on La Liga reporting duty for the BBC yesterday as there were horrendous injuries to Barcelona's Aleix Vidal and Osasuna's Tano Bonnin, I'd be very grateful if we could get through tonight with no repeats.

Atletico Madrid: Moya; Juanfran, Gomez, Savic, Luis; Carrasco, Fernandez, Saul, Koke; Torres, Griezmann.

Celta Vigo: Sergio; Mallo, Cabral, Roncaglia, Jonny; Radoja, Pablo Hernandez; Aspas, Jozabed, Sisto; Guidetti.

Two changes for Cagliari to the side beaten 2-0 at Atalanta last weekend. Centre-back Luca Ceppitelli is suspended, so Nicola Murru steps into a reshuffled back four. Cagliari: Rafael; Pisacane, Capuano, Bruno Alves, Murru; Isla, Dessena, Di Gennaro, Barella; Borriello, Sau.

Substitutes: Colombo, Crosta, Gabriel, Miangue, Salamon, Deiola, Ionita, Padoin, Tachtsidis, Ibarbo.

    Cagliari v Juventus (19:45 GMT)

Max Allegri rested five players for the midweek win at Crotone, and brings four of them back tonight – defenders Stephan Lichtsteiner, Giorgio Chiellini and Alex Sandro, plus Juan Cuadrado, who got the winner against Inter Milan last weekend. Miralem Pjanic is not recalled, though, as Claudio Marchisio gets the nod alongside Sami Khedira in midfield.

Juventus: Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Khedira, Marchisio; Cuadrado, Dybala, Mandzukic; Higuain.

Substitutes: Neto, Audero, Dani Alves, Benatia, Rugani, Asamoah, Pjanic, Lemina, Sturaro, Rincon, Pjaca.
