St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright talking to BBC Scotland:

"It's never nice to lose in any cup competition but we lost that game in the first 20 minutes. The first goal is always important and I don't think we started the game very well as it was about 18 minutes before we made a tackle.

"Second half we were better and made some decent chances but we were always vulnerable to the counter-attack from Partick, which they did very well.

"Overall, we didn't do enough to win the game. Now we have to get back to the league where we are doing well but we need to get to that 40 point target than take it from there."

Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald talking to BBC Scotland:

"I think we deserved the win. We started brightly after making a number of changes and a change of shape as well, so I was really pleased.

"It's all about scoring when you are on top in games and we did that even though it would have been easier if we had taken one or two of the other ones we made. Zander Clark made a couple of wonder saves as he always seems to do against us but we worked our goal really well.

"It's strange as St Johnstone have beaten us twice at our place and we have done the same here so it really is a funny old game as they say."

St Mirren manager Jack Ross talking to BBC Scotland: "We scored two quality goals in the second half. Lewis Morgan is a great talent and he's so two-footed as he showed with his finishes.

"The conditions were very difficult and East Fife made it difficult for us as well, so I'm delighted to get through.

"Our cup form has been very good. It's been a difficult season for this group and they showed good character today. That's something to build on."

Rangers are at home to Morton, with Graeme Murty in charge of the home side after Mark Warburton's strange departure.

Aberdeen match-winner Shay Logan talking to BBC Sportsound: "We had a lot of chances and deserved the win.

"They have a very good keeper [Scott Fox] and he did everything he could do to keep them in the game

"It's always nice to get the winner. It's going to be a fight in the next round, whoever we get.

"We did well to get to the final of the League Cup, but we want to give a better account of ourselves if we meet Celtic again in this one."

A huge result in the Championship's only game. United chipped away at Hibs' lead last week but took a step backwards today as the Bairns ran over the top of them.

Peter Houston's side, beaten in the play-off final last term, are just three points behind the Tannadice outfit now, as are Morton.

It's no longer a two-horse race at the top end of the table...

Former Rangers player Derek Ferguson reacting to the statement from chairman Dave King

"He [Mark Warburton] doesn't seem to deal with criticism very well and you're always going to be scrutinised at the two big clubs in Glasgow. He doesn't seem to have been 100% committed to the club and fans won't put up with that.

"I don't think he got what Rangers are all about.

"He paid a lot of money for Joe Garner and he doesn't really fit into his style of play.

"The amount of money that's already been spent [King's £18m figure] is quite interesting. I didn't realise it was as much as that."

Shay Logan's goal may have been a bit scruffy, with a deflection helping his shot sneak into the corner of the net. However, the Dons full-back gets full marks for his celebration - and no one at Pittodrie will give a two hoots about how the goal went in anyway...

These two will do it all again at New Douglas Park on Tuesday. The Championship side had chances to kill the game but Accies were the stronger team after equalising.

Falkirk move to within three points of second-placed Dundee United with an emphatic win in the day's only Championship fixture.

Kilmarnock nudge up one place and into the top six of the Premiership following an entertaining draw. The solitary point lifts Dundee an amazing three spots to seventh.

The Buddies are saving their best form for the Scottish Cup it seems. Lewis Morgan grabbed a couple of goals for the visitors, the second of which was an absolute belter.

The Jags go marching into the last eight of the Scottish Cup thanks to Adam Barton's early goal.

Saints were very flat, rarely threatening to find a way back.

The Dons were on top for long spells but it needed a deflection on Shay Logan's shot to find a way past inspired home keeper Scott Fox.

County offered next to nothing up front.

County are desperately pressing for a late leveller, but the towering figure of Joe Lewis is keeping them at bay. The Dons keeper beats away Jay McEveley's header, then rises to punch clear a deflected free kick with a right hook that wouldn't have looked out of place at Madison Square Gardens.

Kilmarnock almost hit the front at Dens Park with Rory McKenzie smashing in an effort from distance that Scott Bain tips over. The home side then race up the park and Faissal El Bakhtaoui drives a shot narrowly wide.
