  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 58 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

Darren Gibson gets his name in the book for a late, reaching challenge on Ashley Barnes. Caught him with studs on ankle, a real painful one for the Burnley striker.

  2. Postpublished at 56 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

The heavens have opened, the rain is pouring, and what looked a few moments ago like a stirring Sunderland charge is now looking rather dampened.

We're slipping back into the first-half pattern; neither side able to cause any real damage.

  3. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

Much, much better from Sunderland. They were meek before the break. This is what they needed to do.

Burnley can breathe as Matt Lowton launches in a long throw, but Sunderland are giving as good as they've been getting now.

  4. CLOSE!published at 51 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

Huge, huge chances for the home side.

Jermain Defoe clips a ball to the back stick for Adnan Januzaj, whose volley is straight at Tom Heaton and is parried clear.

But only to Bryan Oviedo, whose cross into the box is smashed way over the bar by Seb Larsson with the Burnley goal gaping. Had to score.

  5. CHANCE!published at 49 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

Brilliant pass from Bryan Oviedo, he splits the Burnley defence in three with a searching ball forward for Fabio Borini.

But the Italian dithers and dallies, and eventually just strokes the ball straight at Tom Heaton. Admittedly the angle was tough, but he had to do better there. He was clean through on goal and that finish had no power.

  6. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

Well this is brighter than how Sunderland started the first half anyway. Jermain Defoe nips in and steals the ball from Jeff Hendrick in the middle, bursts towards goal and is hauled down by the Burnley man.

From the free-kick. Darren Gibson slices a volley horribly wide. Think Paul Scholes, but the total opposite.

  7. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

And we are back under way. No changes from either side at the break. Come on now. Let's have a few goals.

Actually, make that six yards. I've just seen another replay of that Barnes chance and it really is a bad miss.

  10. Postpublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2017

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

It's Burnley who've made all the running. They should be 1-0 up at least - Ashley Barnes prodded the game's best chance just wide from about 12 yards out.

Sunderland, well they look like a team that's bottom of the Premier League.

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

The Sunderland fans appear not to have forgotten about Joey Barton's Newcastle days.

The Burnley man hits a ball down the line for George Boyd to chase, but there's too much on it.

  13. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

Tom Heaton's claiming all of these long balls into the box.

    TWO minutes added on.

  14. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

Matt Lowton winds up a long throw into the box as the away side look to crank up the pressure. A goal now could be terminal for Sunderland.

The red and white shirts scamper back and manage to win a throw for themselves. Adnan Januzaj then darts up the pitch, through no space, and is fouled. Excellent work from the Manchester United loanee.

  15. CLOSE!published at 42 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

Ashley Barnes must score! But his toe-poke towards goal from Scott Arfield's prod-through is carried just wide of the post. Jordan Pickford was rooted to the spot - the whole Sunderland back line was.

FIVE to go until the break. David Moyes' brow is furrowed.

Adnan Januzaj booms a long ball up towards Jermain Defore, but Ben Mee judges brilliantly to flick back to his keeper on the head.

Excellent sliding tackle from Jason Denayer to deny Ashley Barnes, who was gathering pace down the Burnley right.

Andre Gray then tries to take a difficult low cross into his path but can't control it.

They are nodding off in the Sunderland directors' box.

  18. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

It could well be the spin of a knock-down, a handy deflection into someone's path, that leads to the opener. If we're to get one that is. Both sides have been poor with their finishing.

Seb Larsson loops one up for Jermain Defoe to chase - he's had nothing so far - but the ball bounces into Tom Heaton, who gathers.

  19. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

Jason Denayer is tight on Andre Gray as Burnley look to counter - too tight, it's another foul. There's been quite a few between those two this afternoon already. Certainly one to watch. Gray's having the best of the battle so far.

George Boyd snatches at a knock-down as the free-kick is pumped up to the edge of the Sunderland box. Wide again.

  20. CHANCE!published at 31 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Burnley

Burnley are slow out as Sunderland feign a short corner - instead it's out to Darren Gibson on the edge of the box, but the midfielder's strike is again lacking quality. Power, but no accuracy. Comfortably over, from a decent opening.
