That means Rovers are 13 points ahead of third-placed Portsmouth, who lost to fellow promotion hopefuls Stevenage.

Luton and Exeter shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, Adebayo Akinfenwa was on target again as Wycombe beat Hartlepool 2-0 and Mansfield got back to winning ways with victory over Carlisle.

Newport joined Leyton Orient in losing, meaning things look bleak for the bottom two, who are both seven points from safety.

The comeback award of the day has a fair chance of going to Southend who trailed 2-0 at the break to early Walsall substitute Franck Moussa's double. But veteran striker Simon Cox (pictured) grabbed the winner to secure all the points in their vital promotion tussle.

    Ain't gonna happen.

To compound their misery, Rangers defender Nedum Onuoha added a late fifth.
