He goes to pick it up, not realising that actually counts as hitting the ball in play and as a result gives away a free-kick. Mark Hughes can't help but chuckle as he shakes his head.

Everton have been extremely well organised and have reacted brilliantly coming off the back of the defeat against Liverpool at the weekend. They've been controlling game in all three departments. 

Man Utd have been disappointing. All they have done is just get behind Everton and haven't threatened at all. When they do pass, they are just passing for passing's sake.

He won't be happy at conceding a goal through his legs when Everton went in front and then he just got rounded on by Marcus Rojo and Michael Carrick for failing to come and make a clearance.

Demarai Gray has been the most likely player to open the scoring for either side in the first half, frequently cutting in from the left wing to get a shot in. He's had three efforts, including one on target.

Credit to the Manchester United fans, they are doing their best to spur their team on but Everton are looking pretty comfortable with four minutes to go until the break.

Kevin Mirallas rampages away down the right wing, no Manchester United players can keep up with him and he gets into the box but slips as he looks to cut the ball back for Tom Davies. The hosts escape.

Jose Mourinho isn't even stood up on the touchline now - he looks that disappointed with his players. 

The number of passes that either go sideways or backwards is just ridiculous. It's just making it so easy for Everton. 

They are absolutely cruising now. They least they do is make sure they go in at half time 1-0 up. 

Ander Herrera is one of the few Manchester United players putting in a creditable shift tonight and he forces Joel Robles into a diving save. Decent chance.

A big improvement needed from Manchester United here. 

To be honest with you, whenever a United player in the middle of the park looks up, apart from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, there isn't anyone else who can take it on and they can't cut through into that space. 

It's so comfortable for Everton at the moment. 

It seems like every time United play a ball forward, it's just a gamble.

Paul Pogba warms up on his own as Luke Shaw and Henrikh Mkhitaryan head into the dugout. Manchester United look so disjointed, a change needed for the second half? 

Could this disrupt Watford? They have been well on top but are forced into a change as Sebastian Prodl picks up an injury. He's clutching his ribs and signals to the bench to come off, so on comes Daryl Janmaat.

A lot of the chatter around Jose Mourinho's summer rebuilding plans has centred around Manchester United's attack.

But United have also conceded some soft goals this season and that was another.

I can't believe Mourinho, who forged his reputation on having a strong defence and has worked with the likes of John Terry, Sergio Ramos and Walter Samuel, won't bring in new faces at the back this summer.
