It's not very often I commend the officials, but there have been two offside decisions that have been spot on. One for Shaqiri and one for Rondon. Both offside and the officials were spot on.

The assistant referees of late have been absolutely spot on, so credit where credit is due.

Liverpool are on the back-foot. Saido Berahino is trying to create space for himself with the ball at his feet inside the Liverpool area but the forward is forced away from goal.

It's all a bit scrappy. Too many careless passes by both teams. A game low in quality.

Chris Hickman: Let's get behind the team, the kids have great promise

Chris Collins: To miserable Liverpool fans. The Spurs side 2 years ago looked very green. Look at them now! Have a bit of faith. 

First sign of danger from Liverpool and it's James Milner's ball into the penalty area which causes alarm - Glen Johnson clearing after Lee Grant had fails to deal with it.

Lee Grant has had nothing to do in the Stoke goal. Indeed, we're still waiting for the game's first shot on target.

Glen Johnson rolls back the years as his glides past Nathaniel Clyne but his cross into the penalty area is slightly over-cooked. No doubt Liverpool are looking edgy at the back.

Ben Woodburn is wearing the No 58 shirt. The 17-year-old has settled quickly and is pinging the ball around with an air of confidence. Stoke, however, are bossing possession in these early exchanges.

Very little from the Reds in terms of attacking threat. There's a nervousness about the visitors - Joel Matip almost gives away position midway inside his own half after failing to control the ball.

The ball is in the back of the Liverpool net. Xherdan Shaqiri blasts it past Simon Mignolet but it won't count because the offside flag is up.

It's got the Stoke fans pumped up though.

I love seeing young, British players coming through and get a chance, especially at a club like Liverpool. There's a lot of pressure on the young lads but I hope they do well.

To put on a Liverpool shirt so young, with that pressure, I say good luck to the kids.

Liverpool, in black shirts and black shorts, get us under way.

Liverpool's travelling fans are in good voice as the teams emerge. Tottenham's 4-0 win over Watford earlier means the Reds will start eight points behind second-placed Spurs. But can Jurgen Klopp's side stay third?

KZS: Depressing selection by Klopp. The lack of transfers in January will cost us dear. Have CL footy in our grasp but could blow it.

It's hard to know who to make favourites. Stoke? Much stronger at home, and unburdened by immediate relegation pressure. BUT…..three defeats in a row and one win from six is troubling form. They're not (mathematically) safe yet and perhaps need to engineer a sense of tension.

Liverpool? Five games unbeaten and one defeat in seven - plus the other three teams in the top four have all won at Stoke this season.

BUT….all five league defeats have come against sides currently in the bottom half, and their recent away form borders on rotten.
