Neil Leverett: Mariappa made that awkward with his positioning. But still no leg to stand on for Janssen

Black Eagle: You're too slow or too impatient Vincent Janssen but love your effort! Never give up!

From a Spurs corner, Ben Davies smashes a low strike as the ball bounces nicely on the edge of the box, but Craig Cathcart's legs block and Spurs work it back to the starting position on the halfway line.

David Whale: What does Vincent Janssen have to do to score? The poor chap! His time will come though. Keep the faith

Tim: If that was Kane instead of Janssen it would most likely be 3-0 by now. A real shame Janssen cannot perform in the Premier League

Tommy Fitzpatrick:  Any idea what Janssen did before this season. I am guessing plumber

What a fantastic move, ended pretty disgracefully with Christian Eriksen's wayward shot over the bar.

It was all about Son Heung-min's little flick from Mousa Dembele's daisy-cutter, Dele Alli's hand-off under pressure. But Eriksen let the side down. He reckons he was fouled. Sure, there was pressure, but nothing sinister.

Krish:  Hard to say Spurs have matured after they started the season so badly and are in exactly the same position as last year.

Oof! And Vincent Janssen gets another decent sight  - again this ball from the right takes out the keeper and defence, with Janssen in with a shout of reaching it if he can stretch every sinew...

But the low ball actually just has too much on it. Out for a Watford goal kick.

He definitely should have scored the first one though.

It's bounced at an awkward height for Janssen. Too low for a header, too high for a volley.

It was one yard out and if you're going to be critical you will say he had to do better there of course.

    How does Vincent Janssen miss?

It's a fantastic ball, low across the goal, from Kieran Trippier, which bounces up pretty much perfectly for Janssen to prod home, with the keeper taken out at the front stick.

But it just bundles up off his thigh, onto the bar, and away.

Just the one goal in 22 games. Awkward...

Dele Alli had peeled away to the back stick and Ben Davies' cross, for a moment, looked like looping up to find him. Not bad on his head that man.

But in the end it just dawdles out for a Watford throw deep in their own half. Spurs look to box them in and make this spell of possession tell.

Tottenham look good and dangerous going forward but when they haven't got the ball they are allowing Watford to settle into the game. That's why the visitors have made a really good start here.

Spurs want to score the goal Vincent Janssen might have put away with that earlier chance. It's all short, tidy passes around the box, looking for a chink of light to open up.

This latest attempt at perfection is halted by the offside flag - Janssen had strayed.

Watford have settled well into the game. They've had two or three attempts on the Spurs goal. Stefano Okaka is strong and powerful when he gets going.

The Watford boss Walter Mazzarri is out of his technical area just telling his players to settle down. They've done fantastically well in this first quarter.

Watford aren't coming here and sitting back with five at the back. They're having a real go at Spurs.

Stefano Okaka's such a powerful unit. Pace and brawn. Issac Success - making just his second start for Watford - is tidy too, jinking away from a challenge.

And here's M'Baye Niang - the third bright Hornets forward man to get involved in this move, hammering a drive straight down Hugo Lloris' gullet. Easily gathered, but promising signs.

Well that was brilliant from Vincent Janssen. This is what you want to see from your centre forward.

He's in today and got his chance and he gets a great strike on goal which Gomes just manages to save with his legs, but really good play from Janssen.

    This is end to end!

The first real sight of goal as Christian Eriksen feeds Vincent Janssen with a dinky little pass to feet. Janssen turns his man and drives at goal - but Heurelho Gomes blocks with his legs.

Let off for Watford, who are not just here to shut up shop.

Oooh. Hon Seung-min's cross-shot from a tight angle is deleted and out for a corner off the post.

    It's cleared and Watford break..

Abdoulaye Doucoure's shot is deflected and Hugo Lloris has to bravely punch ahead of Stefano Okaka's high jump.

Played short and then back to the taker Holebas in a really clever move, but Hugo Lloris is out quickly to dive at feet and snuff out the danger. For now.

We've got two goalkeeper captains today, nice to see as a paid-up member of the union myself (no I'm not that Patrick Jennings. Happy coincidence.)

I tell you what, Watford have started very well here. Daryl Janmaat darting down the right now to win a corner...

Hold up though. Watford break forward and although a dangerous ball to the back stick is cleared, they win a free-kick in a decent spot, central outside the box.

    Who's to step up?..

Jose Holebas curls one into Hugo Lloris' gloves. Tidy early claim for the captain skipper on his return.
