A rare victory for Sam Allardyce over Arsene Wenger, a brilliant showing from Crystal Palace. 

Arsenal endure another sorry defeat. Let the hand-wringing begin. Is this the year?

Alexis Sanchez runs Joel Ward wide, dinks a cross in and Mamadou Sakho flamboyantly chests back to his keeper.

Sam Allardyce cannot control his grin as he applauds.

Ah, OK maybe this will tell you more: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain smashes a long-range effort, fizzing with frustration, high into the stands from range. Arsene Wenger hangs his head, hands in pockets.

Arsenal can't find a way past Jason Puncheon in midfield. Aaron Ramsey is penalised for holding him back and resignedly lobs the ball back for a Palace free-kick. He rubs his face in disbelief.

The game's up. But Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain still chases. 

Here are those gaps at the back again for Arsenal though and Gabriel has to launch himself into a sensational block to deny Christian Benteke's fierce effort from the edge as Palace counter.

Ah OK so that wasn't Palace's third change. Here it is now - Wilfried Zaha is off for defender Damien Delaney. 

Arsene Wenger is off the bench, fronting up to his latest dismal evening out.

Aaron Ramsey tries to break forward, but Palace win it back and there are big holes at the back. Instead of launching into it, Andros Townsend turns and recycles possession - each pass gets a huge Olé cheer from the home fans until Wilfried Zaha is caught offside.

And it could be worse! Andros Townsend's cross to the far stick is crying out to be smashed on the volley - Christian Benteke does and it's heading in, but Nacho Monreal stabs behind to clear for a corner. Great stop.

I dread to think what Alexis Sanchez will be like in that dressing room. This has been limp with a capital L.

The Gunners launch a free-kick into the box, and as it's cleared the home fans refuse to return the ball. They're enjoying this. Safe to say, the travelling support are not happy.

A last change for Palace. Luka Milivojevic trots off, first goal for the club in the bag, and Mathieu Flamini comes on to reprise his dogged midfield warrior role.

Head injury. Mamadou Sakho is down, the ref stops play to make sure he's OK. We think he is. Up he gets and off he goes, to come back on.

As the camera pans around the Arsenal crowd, there are some very glum faces indeed.

Another brilliant clearance from Mamadou Sakho sliding in to scoop out Hector Bellerin's low cross from the right after a beautiful dink from Mesut Ozil to find him. 

Time's running out. The home fans know it.

Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez go shopping for an intricate one-two that simply isn't there. 

Christian Benteke could be in on the counter... Just too long, the ball across the park. 

The Palace fans are loving this. Arsenal lot? I'm not gonna ask how you're feeling.

Slow, slow. Crystal Palace are happy to keep it like this. They'll defend the crosses in the box, too. Joel Ward soaks up another Arsenal wave with a headed clearance behind, Christian Benteke back to clear the corner. All hands on deck.

Time is ticking down for Arsenal here. A long ball gets tangled up between Olivier Giroud and Mamadou Sakho. 

Granit Xhaka collects on the edge and again looks for a clever pass through instead of smashing at goal. 

The Gunners haven't managed a shot on target this half. 

A change for Palace - Yohan Cabaye is off and James McArthur on in his place. 

And one for Arsenal I missed - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain came on for the anonymous Theo Walcott a few minutes ago. 

Harvey Austin:  Dear Arsene Wenger, please quit. From all Arsenal fans

Ricky Nelson:  Of course Wenger is the problem. He's architect of a style that says you don't shoot, just keep passing. IT ISN'T WORKING.

Mat VP:  AW - We need to show character. This team has great mental strength. Next game - no character, mental collapse. 

Hector Bellerin lifts a dinky ball over the keeper crossing from a tight angle towards the back stick but Palace legs frantically scramble to protect their clean sheet. 

Danger, but there was nobody there in a yellow shirt fast enough to steer it in!
