And speaking of former Arsenal players, what about Emmanuel Adebayor? Crystal Palace fans will remember him too of course.

Now 33 and with Istanbul Basaksehir, he's only gone and bagged a hat-trick in a 4-0 win against city rivals Galatasaray this evening.

    Would you have him back?..

In case you missed it, Granada appointed a new manager earlier today. It's former England and Arsenal captain Tony Adams, who's been put in charge until the end of the season.

You might be asking yourself, 'How's that happened?'. If you are, this is certainly worth a read.

He's got a job ahead of him - seven points is the bridge to safety.

Arsenal have had pretty much all of the ball but they trail to one of two Crystal Palace shots on target.

    Sound familiar?

ONE minute added on. Arsenal win a corner from Joel Ward.

Granit Xhaka to take, he's suddenly found his range..

Gabriel rises at the back stick but Wayne Hennessey glides to his top left corner and holds on. Stylish but comfortable.

  6. CLOSE!published at 44 mins

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Arsenal

So close from Arsenal - who suddenly raise their game to produce a very decent chance.

Granit Xhaka floats one up to Danny Welbeck, the Palace back line exposed, and he shoots from a tight angle, but it dribbles wide. Would have been so hard to direct that into the corner. He didn't quite catch it right.

Two corners in quick succession for the home side but neither of them decent. Still, Sam Allardyce will be happy going in with this...

That's a nice flick Mesut Ozil but it's probably not going to turn the tide of this game.

As Granit Xhaka's poor ball forward is easily picked off, Palace remind them of the pace they've got up on the counter. Andros Townsend... Wilfried Zaha, who finds Christian Benteke...

And his rasping drive at goal is tipped wide by Emiliano Martinez. Fine stop.

    Look away now Arsenal fans....

The Gunners haven't come back to win a Premier League away game since a 5-2 victory at Leicester in September 2015.

That's 14 games since where they have gone behind and not won, losing six and drawing eight.

Just over five to play before the break and Arsenal could easily grab one back - they've all the possession, and this latest corner is only just scrambled clear to safety at the near post, with Danny Welbeck lurking.

But they could equally conspire to concede a second. Hector Bellerin's already had a stab at that.

    Erm, what??

Hector Bellerin has a brain freeze, basically chipping a through ball into Christian Benteke, who is only edged off it by Shkodran Mustafi just in time - he was bearing down on goal, about to smash one, but luckily for Arsenal it fizzles out and Emiliano Martinez scoops up.

    Very luckily.

Arsenal are continuing to dominate possession, as our graphic shows. Not doing them much good at the moment.

What's Andros Townsend's left like? Awful. Leaning back he strikes one from the edge of the box that's sent into orbit towards oblivion. That's not coming back.

  14. CHANCE!published at 33 mins

Mamadou Sakho to the rescue for Palace. He's a man transformed in south London - first he cancels Mesut Ozil's cross on the stretch, supreme agility, then he launches himself to block Alexis Sanchez's follow-up smash. A big body in the box, brave.

But was there maybe a suggestion of a hand?

Again Alexis Sanchez is brushed off it, Joel Ward picking his pocket this time. And as Sanchez desperately lunges back at the ball in frustration he fouls his man. Pretty much sums up Arsenal so far.

From the sublime, to a terrible cross boomed out play, via the offside flag.

So much possession in front of goal for Arsenal, and this chip over the top of the Palace back line from Mesut Ozil is a thing of beauty. But a) Nacho Monreal was offside, and b) his attempt at a cross (not a shot, I think) was wayward. Must do better.

Edward Githinji:  Don't think the problem with the Arsenal defence is Arsene Wenger. Steve Bould should bear responsibility. Lacks steel.

Craig Smith:  Again from a goal kick! Arsenal have to sort out that defence. Palace deserve the lead.

  18. CHANCE!published at 24 mins

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Arsenal

By his standards maybe this should be a goal. It's end-to-end now as Alexis Sanchez collects a ball in the box, spins sharply into space and flashes one to the far stick, but it's just shaping wide.

Could he have done better with that, the Chilean? Probably Arsenal's best sight of goal.

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Arsenal

... Looped in by Yohan Cabaye, Arsenal clear the first wave but then it's fed back in for the Frenchman - and Emiliano Martinez has to rush out to block.

Cabaye was actually offside, but the keeper wasn't to know that.

He wasn't booked for that earlier challenge on Christian Benteke but this one on Andros Townsend sends Shkodran Mustafi straight in the book.

Free-kick Palace, in a dangerous spot...
