    Sunderland 1-2 West Ham

    West Ham attack. Sunderland attack.

Both sides are piling forward when they get the chance, but there's little productivity once they get there.

There's certainly a nervousness about Sunderland's football, but West Ham are looking a little anxious in possession, too.

Victor Anichebe is a handful up front for the Black Cats.

He wins a flick from a long ball forward and it finds the feet of Jermain Defoe. The England international considers shooting himself, but instead tries to lay it back to his strike partner.

That's too strong, and West Ham mop up the loose ball.

The Stadium of Light has fallen pretty quiet. It was bouncing after the first half.

It's understandable, just as they think their team is turning a corner they're on the back foot again.

Sunderland need to pull something out of the bag here, and quickly.

The sun is obviously in a lot of players' eyes, but clearly not James Collins'. It's a crowded six yard box and the keeper cannot come and claim it.

But I ask this question again - why is no-one on the far post? It's unbelievably poor defending.

    David Moyes must be fuming.

His side were looking strong in the first half before going behind, but responded well and perhaps should have gone in ahead at the break.

Less than two minutes into the second half, they fail to defend a corner and they're behind again.

    Who'd be a manager...

GOAL - Collins puts Hammers in frontpublished at 46 mins

    Sunderland 1-2 West Ham

    Well, that didn't take long...

Robert Snodgrass is renowned for his dangerous deliveries from set-pieces and he whips in a corner that's tricky for Sunderland to deal with.

It's headed away for a corner, giving Snodgrass another chance and this time James Collins rises highest in the Sunderland box to glance a header past Jordan Pickford.

Great run by the defender to get across his marker, but poor defending you'd have to say.

The teams are back out, with both Jordan Pickford and Andre Ayew returning after the pair were hobbling slightly towards the end of the first half.

  10. How it standspublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

So how do these half-time scores affect the relegation battle? Not a great deal to be honest.

Sunderland are the only side in the bottom six on course to pick up a point, with Palace, Hull and Swansea all losing. Middlesbrough are not in action today, remember.

But one suspects the Black Cats, who are still nine points adrift of Hull, will need more than a draw.

The West Ham goal really took the sting out of the Sunderland crowd, but that little bit of luck saw the Black Cats score straight from a corner.

Since that moment, Sunderland have been right back in the game and if anything look the more likely to score.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:47 British Summer Time 15 April 2017

    Sunderland 1-1 West Ham

Cracking first 45 minutes of football, but that's the half-time whistle.

Wahbi Khazri is creating all sorts of problems for West Ham.

This time the winger combines well with Jermain Defoe to work a shooting opportunity at the edge of the box, but his side-footed shot is easily saved by Darren Randolph.

  14. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Sunderland 1-1 West Ham

Sunderland think they should have a penalty...

But it's inch-perfect from Robert Snodgrass as he chases Lee Cattermole back into the penalty area and toe-pokes the ball away from the Sunderland midfielder.

Another corner whipped in by Wahbi Khazri, this time it's headed away by Andy Carroll.

    Sunderland 1-1 West Ham

Well, Javier Manquillo just got the ball on the half-way line, turned back towards his own goal and was greeted with jeers from the Stadium of Light fans.

They're urging Sunderland to go for another before the break.

And why not, the Black Cats have probably just about had the better of this one.

  16. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Sunderland 1-1 West Ham

Nice stuff from Sunderland and Billy Jones wins a corner off Arthur Masuaku.

We know what happened last time the hosts got a corner...

This one is curling away from goal though, and it ends up back at Jordan Pickford's feet via Lee Cattermole.

    Sunderland 1-1 West Ham

Jordan Pickford looks to be in trouble for Sunderland, he's limping slightly.

That's bad news for the Black Cats. Their young goalkeeper has been fantastic this season.

It looks like he turned his ankle when hitting a long ball forward.

  18. CLOSE!published at 36 mins

    Sunderland 1-1 West Ham

As soon as Sunderland slack off, West Ham look to hit them on the break.

Robert Snodgrass scuttles forward and slips it to Sam Byram, who lofts a cross to the back post.

Andy Carroll swings his giant left leg at it and volleys back across goal to Andre Ayew, who scoops over from close range.

There's a fair bit of wind at the Stadium of Light.

Every time the balls gets lofted into the air it's swaying about and making life difficult for defenders and goalkeepers.

I reckon that might've had a say in the goal, too.
