St Mirren are 2-0 up at Queen of the South as Rory Loy rolls in a penalty but, as it stands, they remain bottom since Ayr United are ahead at Dunfermline thanks to Ross Docherty.

Greg Tansey whips in a fine free-kick from wide on the Caley Thistle left, but goalkeeper Aaron McCarey touches it over the crossbar.

So close to a second goal for Caley Thistle within a matter of minutes as Billy Mckay just fails to gets his head to a cross flashing across the face of goal.

Carl Tremarco does manage to get his head to it at the far post and Mckay is just unable to recover in time to turn it into the empty net.

Partick Thistle threaten early in the second half; Ryan Edwards turning and flashing a shot at goal from the left edge of the penalty spot but the ball flies wide.

Zander Clark hasn't emerged from the tunnel at half-time - he was down receiving treatment in the closing stages of the first half, and it's the experienced Alan Mannus who is now in goals for the Perth Saints.

You wonder if Richie Foran will gamble a touch here. He said it was a must win match. A point wouldn't be disastrous for either but it's another game gone.

County finished that first half stronger with Jason Naismith a real source of danger down the right hand side.

 I don't think either will settle for seeing this out.

Scott McDonald's equaliser came moments after the striker stabbed the ball wide with the goal at his mercy. He will have felt relief as much as elation, and for Motherwell there is the sense of them having recovered their hopes in this game. They will feel it can be be won now, despite St Johnstone having been more impressive for long spells in the first-half.

Pedro Caixinha's first match as Rangers manager has got off to a very good start.

The Ibrox side are in command at the break, with Emerson Hyndman and Clint Hill on target from close range.

The best chance of the game falls to Partick Thistle. Steven Lawless smacks the ball off the crossbar following a bad defensive header from Scott Boyd.

Iain Vigurs eventually hobbles off after it looked like he had recovered from that leg injury, but Liam Polworth comes on for Caley Thistle.

While Vigurs was limping around midfield, County had taken control of the game.

Wow - that is a miss of the season contender from Scott McDonald. With Zander Clark foundering, the Australian bursts onto a loose ball in the box, and from four yards out, prods wide of the target. An astonishing miss - and it rather sums up Motherwell's afternoon.
