Winning that penalty was one of the few note-worthy things that Marcus Rashford did in the first half.

The Manchester United striker touched the ball just 13 times in the first 45 minutes. Only two of those have been in the Swansea penalty box.

We've seen enough from Swansea to suggest they really are capable of staying up. They have to pick themselves up and take spirit from this first-half showing.

Colin Reardon: MUFC fan. Never a pen. 10 seconds of TV replay would resolve - yet again big decision wrong by ref!

DeathApeDisco: Looks like Rashford's hurt himself in that dive. Dangerous business, falling over.

Zach Kingsbury: Does make up for the 657 pens we haven't been awarded at OT this season. Although undeserved, Swansea been better.

Referee Neil Swarbrick heads off down the tunnel with a few Swansea players offering some constructive feedback on his performance so far.

    Manchester United 1-0 Swansea

    Chris Sutton
    Ex-Chelsea striker on MOTD2 Extra

Rashford dived for the penalty, that's simulation and a really poor decision. And really poor from Rashford.

Never a penalty in a million years.

That penalty decision will badly deflate this Swansea City team, who put everything into this first half. I'm disgusted really.

Paul Clement will be enraged. But his side have to take heart from their first-half performance.

  7. Rooney opens scoring from the spotpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 30 April 2017

    Man United 1-0 Swansea

Wayne Rooney steps up and confidently buries the ball, low and hard to the goalkeeper's left.

A barely deserved lead, but a killer time to take it.

That is not a penalty. Marcus Rashford left his foot in.

  10. PENALTY TO MAN UNITEDpublished at 47 mins

    Man United 0-0 Swansea

Marcus Rashford goes down as Lukasz Fabianski comes out to dive at his feet.

The Manchester United striker looked like he was on his way down regardless of contact...

    Wayne Rooney to take.

Swansea's defence mop up a corner as the tannoy announces two added minutes at the end of the first half.

Jesse Lingard is so lucky. Other referees could easily deem that a red card. His studs were showing and the challenge was high.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 44 mins

    Man United 0-0 Swansea

Jesse Lingard is a little over eager as he attempts to regain possession from Jordan Ayew, sliding in studs up and getting the ball, but also a fair chunk of the Swansea man.

It was a little reckless and Neil Swarbrick brandishes yellow.

Jesse Lingard uncorks from 25 yards, sending an effort wafting just a couple of yards wide.

A sharp intake of breath from the visiting fans.

Peter Malath: Rooney is like our headless chicken in midfield. The play is just happening around him. Non-contributor.

Dan Washbourne: Perhaps all these teams magically 'raising their game for United' is just evidence United aren't as good as they used to be.

Lio George Gerrard: Manchester united in one word this season: DRAW.

Neat from Swansea and, almost inevitably, Gylfi Sigurdsson is at the heart of it.

A lovely disguised ball into the box is just too far in front of Tom Carroll and the ball gets away from the Swans midfielder.

The advertising hoardings are hawking tickets to Michael Carrick's testimonial and there is a bit of the end-of-season kick-about feel as we head towards half-time.

Both teams have come off the boil after a gung-ho first 35 minutes.

Never mind a rocket, Jose Mourinho will be preparing the whole fireworks display for his half-time team-talk.

Jonno Huggard: Swansea are playing some wonderful stuff today.

Nathan Titus: This showing does not deserve that top four place! Man United have got to step up here.

  19. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Man United 0-0 Swansea

Paul Clement, rocking a cardy-and-tie combination beneath his suit jacket, will be well pleased by his side's start.

They have gone toe-to-toe with Manchester United so far and it is about even on my scorecard so far.

Federico Fernandez has dusted himself down and is fine to continue after a collision with Marcus Rashford.
