Now then, this has thrown the cat amongst the pigeons. Marc Richards has fired Northampton into a 1-0 lead against Sheffield United, who will be promoted with victory today.

That said, their nearest challengers Fleetwood in third are also losing - so, as it happens, the Blades would be going up as it stands anyhow.

    Birmingham 0-1 Derby

Birmingham are trying to get back on terms against Gary Rowett's Derby but, after showing good strength to hold the ball up, Lukas Jutkiewicz is denied by a low save from visiting keeper Scott Carson.

  6. Doncaster promoted as it standspublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

At the other end of the fourth tier, it could be a day of celebration for League Two leaders Doncaster, who despite only drawing 0-0 with Mansfield at the moment, could be promoted if results elsewhere go their way.

It's so far so good for the Millers, as Colchester are 4-0 up against fourth-placed Stevenage.

And Luton, the only other side that could stop the promotion party, are drawing 0-0 at Barnet.

    Gareth EvansImage source, Rex Features

Gareth Evans' penalty has put third placed Portsmouth a goal up against Yeovil while Stevenage, who are fourth and nine points off Pompey as it stands, are losing 1-0 at Colchester.

Cheltenham, who are hoping to move one step closer to survival, raced to a 2-0 lead at Wycombe but Garry Thompson's brace has levelled matters.

Play-off chasing Blackpool, who are eighth, are losing at home to mid-table Grimsby.

    Norwich 6-1 Reading

Ok, this is just getting silly now.

Wes Hoolahan's 50th goal for Norwich quickly restores the five-goal lead. That Reading comeback is off.

    Norwich 5-1 Reading

They're going to win 6-5, right?

Reading get one back at Norwich through Yann Kermorgant. That's his fifth goal in four games.

Five more from the experienced striker would do nicely for the Royals. But, somehow, I can't see it...

Off the back of a 5-0 hammering at Preston on Tuesday, this is a vital first half for Bristol City and head coach Lee Johnson.

Norwich 4-0 Reading; Burton 0-1 Aston Villa

Norwich extend their lead through Russell Martin. Why couldn't the Canaries have played like this all season?

Meanwhile, there's bad news for Aston Villa, as in-form striker Jonathan Kodjia has gone off with an injury.

GOAL: Wigan 1-1 Rotherhampublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Gabriel Obertan

I wonder how many minutes Rotherham have spent ahead in games this season?

Their lead at the DW Stadium lasted only five minutes today, thanks to Gabriel Obertan's important equaliser for the Latics.

    Jamie Paterson

Another big old goal at the bottom of the Championship!

Jamie Patterson has curled struggling Bristol City into a 1-0 lead against Wolves, who have won their last five matches in a row.

City, by contrast, lost 5-0 at Preston on Tuesday.

GOAL: Wigan 0-1 Rotherhampublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 8 April 2017

    Danny Ward

Deary, deary me. Wigan are behind. Rotherham are already down - they haven't won in 14 games!

But Danny Ward has them ahead against the 23rd-placed Latics, as he slides in from close range.

And the Millers deserve it so far, too.

    Oldham 1-0 Fleetwood

Is that the cheer of Sheffield United fans at Sixfields and Bramall Lane I can hear?

It might well be, but not because their own team have scored. Nathan Pond's own goal has given Oldham a 1-0 lead over Fleetwood - meaning the Blades could actually now afford to concede and they'd still be heading up to the second tier this afternoon.

    Championship relegation battle

    Matty TaylorImage source, Rex Features

With Blackburn losing, Bristol City are two points above the relegation zone as things stand by virtue of their goalless first 30 minutes against Wolves.

With Burton and Birmingham both behind, they're both on course to remain in trouble.

No goals yet at the City Ground though.
