Yes, they've played the top three sides in the word and yes, they've beaten the World Champions... But England's form guide for 2017 so far doesn't read quite so well: Played five, won one, drawn one, lost three.

That's not exactly a record befitting a side which climbed to fourth in the world rankings last month.

The Lionesses will desperately want to turn tonight's dominant performance into a win, to bolster their win ratio if nothing else, regardless of the fact this is only a friendly.

"One win in six" won't be a stat England want to be talking about over the weekend.

Will Mark Sampson make many changes at the break? He has the likes of Mel Lawley, Isobel Christiansen and Nikita Parris up his sleeve. 

England well on top, some decent play but they haven't found a way into the net. 

The thoughts of everyone inside Vale Park though will be with Alice Parisi, who sustained a very serious looking injury.

Katja Schroffeneger makes another save from Jodie Taylor - and that's the half.

There aren't many in the game better at striking the ball from 25 yards than Jordan Nobbs. Her decent effort from the edge of the D has re-energised this crowd.

Jodie Taylor probably should have scored with her chance moments later, but credit to Italy keeper Katja Schroffenegger for another instinctive save.

Great save! And the move of the night so far. Toni Duggan starts it with a bit of juggling inside the area, the ball is then teed up by Jodie Taylor for Jordan Nobbs, and her left-footer is well turned over by Katja Schroffenegger!

Schroffenegger then makes another cracking save, with her feet this time, as England end the half with an onslaught. 

Eni Aluko's absence will lead to questions like that one from Rachel if Mark Sampson's side struggle in front of goal.

The England manager's decision to name his squad so early is certainly a talking point. There are five minutes added on - I was expecting much more. 

Rachel : England needs goals! Proven in other games, yet leaving WSL top scorer out of squad in Aluko. Form not a priority?

Confirmation that Alice Parisi has, unsurprisingly, been taken straight to hospital after that nasty-looking injury.

Jodie Taylor takes a tumble inside the area as England whip a corner in but that's not enough to give a penalty. England still well on top. 

We will have a lengthy spell of injury time in this half now, and an injury like that often brings the flow of a game to a halt. Some of the Italian players looked very shaken.

Applause rings out as Alice Parisi leaves the field on a stretcher. That could well be her ruled out of the Euros as Aurora Galli comes on. 

England defender Millie Bright is OK physically after that challenge but she looks shaken as Mark Sampson gives her some advice on the sidelines. Never nice to be involved in a serious injury, and this long stoppage will affect both sides I'm sure.

Ouch. You could hear that collision from up in the stands and the whole crowd winced.

There's concern here for Italy's Alice Parisi, who has come off worst. 

She's moving, but has been given an oxygen mask.

I've just watched that incident back and Alice Parisi looks to have sustained a serious injury there. Some of her team-mates look pretty emotional out there as the Italian coach ventures on to the field to offer his support.
