Rather confusingly of course Mark Sampson has already named his 23-player squad for Euro 2017 - a good three months in advance.

Alex Scott is one of four players named in the tournament squad who will miss tonight while recovering from injuries, along with Manchester City keeper Karen Bardsley, Notts County's Jo Potter and Chelsea forward Fran Kirby.

Replacing them in a separately-named  23-player squad, external  for the fixtures against Italy and Austria are an uncapped quartet: Chelsea full-back Hannah Blundell and Manchester City forward Mel Lawley, plus keeper Sophie Baggaley and defender Jessica Carter - both of Birmingham City.

Carter, 19, and Lawley, 22, both received senior call-ups for the first time in their careers.
