  4. The race for Champions League placespublished at 19:29 British Summer Time 10 May 2017

    Southampton v Arsenal (19:45 BST)

It's already confimed that Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton will compete in European competition.

The top three teams will qualify for the group stage of next season's Champions League, with the fourth-placed team entering in the play-off round.

Chelsea are one win away from winning the title after their 3-0 win over Middlesbrough on 8 May.

The Blues are already guaranteed to finish in the top two, and Tottenham are close to doing so. Realistically, that leaves two Champions League places between Man City, Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal, with the two unsuccessful teams joining Everton in the Europa League.

    • Arsenal have not won a league fixture at St Mary's in five attempts since 2003 (L2, D3).
    • However, Southampton have won just six of 35 Premier League meetings overall, losing 19.

  7. Talking of pressure...published at 19:16 British Summer Time 10 May 2017

    Southampton v Arsenal (19:45 BST)

A win tonight would go a long way to lifting the grey cloud over Claude Puel's head.

Southampton are nestled safely in mid-table, but haven't won a game since 8th April - a run of four matches.

Another game without victory would be their worst run of the season.

However, 10th-placed Saints could finish in the top half of the table in four straight top-flight campaigns for the first time.

  9. Wenger in? Wenger out?published at 19:10 British Summer Time 10 May 2017

    Southampton v Arsenal (19:45 BST)

Arsene Wenger's season can be summed up in one song: the hokey cokey.

In? Out? In? Out? Not even the fans who pay for those silly plane banners can decide what they want.

The pressure may have eased for the Frenchman after his side beat Manchester United on Sunday, and kept alive their chances of reaching the Champions League for the 21st consecutive season.

But there's still a lot of chat about whether he'll sign a new contract and work alongside a director of football next season.

Wenger said on the issue: "As long as I'm manager of Arsenal, I will decide what happens on the technical front, that's it.

"I don't know what director of football means. Is it somebody who stands in the road and directs play right and left? I don't understand, and I never did understand, what it means."
