  2. Referee Madden likes a pre-match ravepublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

Bobby Madden is the man in the middle today.

The 38-year-old referee was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year, and chose to delay treatment so he could take part at the European Championships.

"The cup final is about the stories of the players and the managers, the tactics, the goals," Madden told BBC Scotland this week. "Every official hopes that the evening after the cup final, the talking point isn't the referee."

Read the Q&A with the cup final whistler - which includes his preference for pre-match "old skool dance tunes".

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp is at Hampden not only to savour the big occasion but on a scouting mission now that he is in charge of English Championship outfit Birmingham City.

"I'm trying to get to as many games as I can," he told BBC Scotland. "I've been out of for a year or nearly two years nearly.

"So I just thought I would come and have a look and see if there are any guys here who would want to go to Birmingham.

"There will be some good players on show.

"Celtic have had an incredible season and Derek's done a great job at Aberdeen.

"It'll be a tight game, but Celtic have won all five meetings this season and have had the upper hand against everybody in an amazing season for them.

"Full credit to Aberdeen - to finish second has been fantastic.

"Celtic will want to finish the job today, but Aberdeen will be determined to stop that.

"I am looking forward to it. It will be a great atmosphere."

  7. 'It could be start of something for Dons' - Brownpublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Celtic v Aberdeen (15:00)

Former Aberdeen and Scotland manager Craig Brown is not just an interested observer at Hampden but a man with a vested interest, being a Dons director.

"It is a good time to be involved with the club because the last three or four years have been outstanding and I would like think it will culminate in a victory today," he told BBC Scotland.

"We've been very close. It is the same in Europe. In the last three years, we've done very well in Europe and we just need to make the next step.

"This could be the start of something very positive for Aberdeen if we win the cup.

"But we know the level of the opposition and we have the highest regard and respect for Celtic."

Asked what he wold be telling the Dons players in the dressing-room as they aimed to beat the favourites, Brown joked: "You can't ask me what to say because we lost twice in the semi-final to Celtic.

"I would be saying to the lads that they've done exceptionally well and that will give them great confidence.

"Celtic have an unbeaten record, but when you look at it - I think they have drawn four and won 11 by the odd goal, so there are 15 that have been relatively close.

"They are without question the outstanding team of the moment, but you've got to be confident, go out there and enjoy the fixture and, if you win, you'll enjoy it even more."

  8. Jack in, or out?published at 13:27 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Celtic v Aberdeen (15:00)

If Aberdeen do go on and win the cup, Ryan Jack will not be leading the team up the Hampden stairs to get it.

The 25-year-old will be moving on under freedom of contract this summer and has been heavily linked with Rangers.

The defensive midfielder returned to action as a half-time substitute in last Sunday's 6-0 win at Partick Thistle after recovering from a groin operation at the start of this month and was on the receiving end of some heckling from a section of Dons supporters.

If Derek McInnes goes with his best XI surely Jack will start?

The team lines will be announced around 14:00 BST.

  9. Dembele dilemma for Celticpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Celtic v Aberdeen (15:00)

Scotland's leading goalscorer Moussa Dembele has recovered from a hamstring injury sustained in the semi-final win over Rangers.

The French striker is fit enough to start, according to manager Brendan Rodgers. But will he?

Dembele has not found the net since scoring his 32nd goal of the season in the quarter-final win against St Mirren on 5 March.

Leigh Griffiths has scored four in the five games Dembele has missed to take his tally for the season to 18.

    Celtic v Aberdeen (15:00)

If Brendan Rodgers is at all nervous, he's doing a good job of hiding it.

"We have tried to remove the emotion of it all, as we have done for a lot of the season," said the Northern Irishman. "We have just tried to look at the next game."

Come on Brendan. A never-done-before unbeaten treble? It's more than just another game.

  12. Let the mind games begin...published at 13:18 British Summer Time 27 May 2017

    Celtic v Aberdeen (15:00)

Dons boss Derek McInnes was full of praise for Celtic in his media appearance yesterday, although he did his best to crank the pressure up on the red hot favourites, suggesting his own team's season will be deemed a success even if they don't win today.

"I think the level of player they have and the performances they have produced, anything other than a treble would be extremely disappointing for them.

"While we put ourselves under pressure to deliver, we have had a very good season and we will still have a very good season if we lose. But we can have a brilliant season, a season to remember, a special season, by winning this.

"And I think it would be a real anti-climax and not something that was expected if Celtic weren't to complete a treble.

"I think more Celtic teams should have won the treble in the last few years and for whatever reason they haven't.

"This Celtic team have been very sharp with their work, very focused, very confident and they don't give much encouragement to their opponents. We have got to try and find a way to out that seed of doubt in their mind that it's not going to be their day."

Celtic are going for a treble, with the League Cup and a sixth successive Premiership title already in the bag.

Brendan Rodgers is on the cusp of being only the third Celtic manager to win the clean sweep - but he would be the first to do it without a single defeat.

"The feeling around the club and the team is fantastic and we want to continue with that," he said yesterday.
