Tammy Abraham towers over the rest of the England line-up as they belt out the national anthem. I'm giving Mason Holgate top marks for passion there. Though skipper James Ward-Prowse followed it up with a very enthusiastic 'come on!'

The Swedes in the crowd make a very good job of their anthem though. Like a home game.

England U21 coach Aidy Boothroyd on Sky Sports:

"We've been looking forward to getting going. It's about going out and playing - showing what we can do."

    About the team selection:

"Whoever I pick, it's a squad game - we're going to get cards and injuries. I made a couple of calls that look tough. But the guys that aren't starting are ready to be called upon.

"The selection in central defence and down the left was a close call."

William Darling: Might be ignorant on this, but how does an under-21s team have so many 23 year olds?

Players are eligible to play in the competition if they were born on or after 1 January 1994.

Kyle: Looking forward to seeing Tammy Abraham tonight as he could be set to join Newcastle. Great season he has just had. Jordan Pickford is some keeper and I don't think the price tag will affect him any way. I'm expecting big things from him.

Nathan Redmond, who is back with the under-21s after making his senior England debut against Germany in March, revealed the players have been relaxing by watching dating show Love Island.

    Of course they have!

"I managed to get it on the laptop so a few of the boys were round watching it," said the 23-year-old Southampton forward.

"It's another thing which keeps everyone together.

"We have games rooms and a lot of stuff to keep us occupied. A lot of the boys appreciate the downtime and chilling out. When you've got time to take your mind off football, you take it."

Despite changing weather conditions in Kielce there is optimism in the England camp.

A lot is expected of Tammy Abraham and Nathan Redmond.

AC Milan say they have been left with a "bitter taste in the mouth" after teenage goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma turned down a new contract.

The Italy keeper, 18, now looks likely to leave the club. He is in the Italy squad for this tournament.

Rossoneri chief executive Marco Fassone said the player had made a "definitive decision" not to renew his deal.

"We were taken by surprise, as we had hoped Donnarumma would be the goalkeeper taking Milan into the future," he added.

"Naturally, the decision leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, but now we have to go forward."

Donnarumma - whose contract expires next year - broke into the first team as a 16-year-old and has played almost 70 times since.

Jordan Pickford has become the most expensive British keeper in history after Everton paid £25m - rising to what would be a club record £30m - to sign him from Sunderland.

The 23-year-old, who starts tonight, has signed a five-year contract at Goodison Park.

"It is a great club, a massive club and it is a great opportunity," he said., external

Pickford made 29 Premier League appearances last season but could not prevent Sunderland being relegated.

Surely this is the summer for Nathaniel Chalobah to get regular Premier League football?

Jordan Pickford: Everton-bound, outstanding for Sunderland and another opportunity to showcase his talents on the European stage. Last summer he was part of the team that won the Toulon tournament.

Nathaniel Chalobah: At 22 this is a player who should be playing on a regular basis. Back in March, Gareth Southgate talked about the Chelsea man pushing for a defensive midfield role with the England senior team.

The England manager will be in Poland so it's a chance to catch his eye with options elsewhere limited.

Nathan Redmond: I was in the Czech Republic two years ago and he was England's best player in an otherwise disappointing campaign.

His game has improved since his switch from Norwich to Southampton and he has the potential to be one of the stars of the whole tournament.

Here's what they say about the Swedes. Mind those iceberries now.

The Swedish 'g', like its Danish counterpart, has been fooling English speakers for decades. To illustrate, if an English ship ran into a Swedish 'iceberg', it would hit an 'iceberry'.
