Meanwhile, Preston are still losing 1-0 at Accrington in the EFL Cup first round, in arguably the shock of the night, as it stands.

Another Championship side in trouble are Brentford, who remain 1-0 down at AFC Wimbledon.

Birmingham City and Bristol City are both 4-0 up at home to lower-league opposition and cruising, but Wolves are having to work a bit harder at home to Yeovil - who conceded eight goals at the weekend - as their game is still goalless.

    Sergio Ramos.

Shaved hair round the sides, long at the top and in a ponytail.

Seriously needs to see the barber in the morning.

Doubt he cares because his team are cutting United to shreds at the moment.

Luka Modric in acres of space in the final third, but his daisycutter is easy for David de Gea to smother.

  6. WHAT A MISSpublished at 54 mins

    Real Madrid 2-0 Man Utd

United should have halved the deficit in their next attack.

Firstly the £89m Paul Pogba heads straight at Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas from six yards out.

On the follow up, the £75m Romelu Lukaku blazes his right-footed shot over the crossbar.

A shocker from the new boy.

    Isco

    Men v boys stuff.

Isco the architect and the finisher.

The Spaniard, who has been absolutely majestic today, collects the ball in the box and exchanges a one-two with Gareth Bale.

Cool as you like, the midfielder looks up, waits for David de Gea to go down and curls a finish into the bottom corner.

    Superb team-work, lovely finish.

In the EFL Cup, one of the Championship sides who were trailing at the break have levelled within moments of the start of the second half.

Cardiff have equalised against Portsmouth through substitute Nathaniel Mendez-Laing. Neil Warnock's half-time team talk must have had an impact!

Elsewhere, Fulham's game at Wycombe remains goalless, as does Wolves against Yeovil.

United sub Marcus Rashford already starting to burn pace.

He collects the ball on the left and goes on a weavy run, but is put to a stop inside the Madrid area.

Positive signs for Jose Mourinho there.

Dave saves...and what a stop it is.

Toni Kroos lets rip with his left foot from around 25 yards out and the ball is arrowing into the corner of the net, but David de Gea flies to the air to palm it away.

On the next attack, Marcelo gets space inside the box far too easily and shoots, but his effort is brilliantly blocked by a Chris Smalling challenge.

Nishul Saperia: Pogba has had good and bad moments. But overall you can see why Real didn't compete with us to buy him. Modric/Kroos are better.

Fanti Prince: Pogba should do more for Lukaku. He is too isolated in front.

Hugh Rodger: This is the team that put four past Juventus - the team who had the best defence in last year's CL. Hardly embarrassing.
