Summary

  • Stewart & Mackay-Steven on target for Dons

  • First leg was 1-1 draw at Pittodrie

  • Aberdeen meet Apollon Limassol in third qualifying round

  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 68 mins

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

He's no ordinary Joe, that man Lewis. Ivan Krstanovic positions his body beautifully to volley a ball from the right and it looks as if his effort is heading for the roof of the Aberdeen net before the gymnastic brilliance of the English goalkeeper keeps it out.

  2. Cabraja threatenspublished at 66 mins

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Derek McInnes may be making virtual deposits to the Dons swear box after witnessing those two missed chances. What a difference an away goal or two would make. Remember, Aberdeen have to score. Ryan Christie tries to make amends for that missed header by surging towards the Siroki defence but his team-mates cannot quite match his precision and the attack breaks down. Quickly the play goes to the other end and Dejan Cabraja threatens before being squeezed out by the twin forces of Anthony O'Connor and Mark Reynolds. Things are opening up.

  3. OK, not so rare a thingpublished at 59 mins

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Ryan Christie is involved in two - yes, TWO - chances for Aberdeen. First, he rattles in a shot with his left boot that is parried by Luka Bilobrk into the path of Greg Stewart, who must score from eight yards...but who knocks it wide! In the next move, down the left wing Gary Mackay-Steven sends over a cross to Christie that is the sort of invite to the ball that Disney make children's films about. Unfortunately, Christie heads wide of the target. He had ages to pick his spot and should have at least hit the target.

  4. A rare thingpublished at 58 mins

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

And Joe Lewis gets down quickly to save Ivan Krstanovic's low shot from 18 yards. I'd say that is the first proper save of the match.

  5. Lively Lewispublished at 55 mins

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis is like a bright green streak in the night sky as he leaps to gather a lofted free-kick from out on the right. He kept his eye on the ball, despite the on-rushing strikers.

  6. Logan's runpublished at 51 mins

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Shay Logan has a tub or two of petroleum jelly slapped on his facial injury and re-enters the fray enthusiastically. Meanwhile, Josip Coric, perhaps as a result of his booking, is subbed in favour of Sirokia's Stepjan Loncar.

  7. YELLOW CARDSpublished at 48 mins

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Josip Coric is booked for a blatant trip on Graeme Shinnie. He's been the subject of a lot of fouls this evening, the Dons midfielder. Ryan Christie's free-kick is met by the diving Andy Considine but it's too meek an effort to trouble the home goalie. In the next move, Ivan Krstanovic "clothes-lines" poor Shay Logan with a straight arm across the defender's face, and is yellow carded. Logan's cheek is cut.

Siroki are quite happy to make it scrappy. They have got the advantage. They just want to break up play and waste as much time as possible

  10. Ross injury doubtpublished at 20:50 British Summer Time 20 July 2017

HT Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

It was a tough evening for Scotland Women last night, losing their Euro 2017 debut 6-0 against England.

What looks like making matters worse is an injury to striker Jane Ross. She may miss the next Group D game against Portugal.

Ross, the joint top scorer in qualifying and with 107 caps, damaged her shoulder and was taken to hospital and she will be assessed again before Sunday's meeting with Portugal.

  11. Dons yet to test Siroki goaliepublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 20 July 2017

HT Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Sportsound pundit Michael Grant: "Aberdeen can be grateful that Siroki have been so ordinary. It's two ordinary-looking teams. It looks like (Greg) Stewart and (Ryan) Christie could be a partnership. (Jaydn) Stockley hasn't offered anything. Aberdeen haven't worked the keeper at all yet. They took half an hour to get a corner, they have been wasteful with the corners they have had. It would be really deflating for Aberdeen to go out to this side because they look so average."

  12. A scrappy affairpublished at 20:42 British Summer Time 20 July 2017

HT Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Aberdeen have still to get a shot on target. It's been scrappy. There has been too many fouls. One opportunity for Aberdeen and they could go through if they are good enough to take it. I think the wide players Gary Mackay-Steven and Greg Stewart have done OK. There is no cohesion in the play. All round as a spectacle it has been extremely disappointing

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 20 July 2017

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

  14. Danger for Donspublished at 45 mins

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Croat striker Dejan Cabraja muscles his way between the Aberdeen defence and wins a corner. Joe Lewis comes off his line to gather the set-piece and clutches it at the second attempt.

  15. Impressive Stewartpublished at 44 mins

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Greg Stewart shows the sort of skill that first attracted Birmingham scouts to Dundee. He torments the men in blue but Aberdeen lack the guile, so far, to test the goalie.

  16. Christie's cracking crosspublished at 42 mins

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Ryan Christie directs a fabulous ball across the face of the Siroki goal but Jayden Stockley cannot quite meet it. That is Aberdeen's most dangerous move, save for that Considine header that hit the post...but only after the whistle had blown for a foul.

  17. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:28 British Summer Time 20 July 2017

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Baby-faced assassin Ryan Christie brings down Siroki striker Ivan Krstanovic and is shown a yellow card by Danish referee Michael Tykgaard.

  18. Considine threatenspublished at 20:27 British Summer Time 20 July 2017

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Andy Considine rises well to meet a ball in from the right but the whistle blows for a nudge on a Bosnians' defender as Luka Bolobrk dives to his left to tip the ball on to his left-hand post.

  19. Mackay-Steven gives them both barrelspublished at 20:25 British Summer Time 20 July 2017

    Siroki Brijeg 0-0 Aberdeen (1-1)

Gary Mackay-Steven, once upon a time, would have been blown over in a stiff breeze but the blond winger, now looking more muscular, battles ferociously to dispossess his opponent, then loses it, then wins it back before being body-checked out the way. OK, so he lost out this time but it was enough to thwart Siroki's attack.

Aberdeen have come into it a little bit. It's just their possession. If they could just keep hold of the ball better
