    Siroki Brijeg v Aberdeen (19:45)

This European campaign is Siroki Brijeg's 13th since season 2002-03.

Their last eight campaigns have been in the Uefa Cup or Europa League.

They have only once gone beyond the second round of qualifying and, when they did, they were trounced 7-1 on aggregate by Italian side Udinese.

Siroki Brijeg's last Champions League involvement was in the qualifying rounds in 2006-07...when they were knocked out 3-0 on aggregate by Hearts.

They begin their domestic season on Sunday in a Bosnian and Herzegovinian Premier League home game against Sloboda.

An estimated 200 Dons fans have made the trip to Mostar and to the city that lies just west of it, Siroki Brijeg.

Unfortunately, about 50 supporters were on the receiving end of an unprovoked attack outside the Black Dog Pub in the old town area of Mostar yesterday.

A group of about a dozen masked men set off flares and attacked the Aberdeen fans with baseball bats and metal bars.

Stadion Pecara features something Aberdeen fans and Scots in general will be unaccustomed to - heat, and something called sunshine.

In fact, if the forecast for nearby Mostar is correct, this evening it will be a modest 30 degrees, enough to melt granite back home, but six degrees cooler than late afternoon in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Dons boss Derek McInnes enjoys sporting a tan, but even he might feel this is just a bit too hot.

Certainly, it would seem the perfect night to let the ball do the work.

  4. Onus on the Donspublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 20 July 2017

    Siroki Brijeg v Aberdeen (19:45)

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes: "There were no real surprises from the team lines when it came in. The onus is on us to find a way. We need to make sure we manage our 90 minutes well. Jayden (Stockley) gives us that physical presence at the top end of the pitch. Greg (Stewart) showed when he came on last week that positivity and creativity in the wider areas. It is important to get switched on quickly. Decision making is an important part of that. They don't lose many (goals). If we can deliver a performance that we are capable of, then I feel it is a game we can get through. Ordabasy, I think, under-estimated this team. There is a feeling here they may well win the league this year. Hopefully we can be in the next round."

No pressure, Aberdeen, but your country needs you. Scotland began with four teams in continental competition, but in Europa League qualifying Rangers were put to the sword by lowly Progres Niederkorn of Luxembourg, then St Johnstone were knocked out by FK Trakai over in Vilnius.

With their comfortable aggregate win against Northern Ireland's Linfield, Celtic are through to play Rosenborg of Norway in Champions League qualifying, leaving Aberdeen our sole representative in the Europa League.

Stipo Markovic stung the Dons with his leveller at packed Pittodrie last week, after Ryan Christie had put the Reds ahead, so with the tie sitting at 1-1, Aberdeen know they have to score in Bosnia and Herzegovina this evening. A Reds win would be fabulous, but a 2-2 draw would do it, thank you very much.
