Bad start to the season - what bad start? Villa are cruising and they double their lead.

Andre Green curls in a beauty, after substitute Henri Lansbury's clever play.

It could be more than two, as well. They've been completely on top.

    Forest 1-0 Boro

Forest are almost in for a second goal, but Boro's Dael Fry scampers back in time to deny the hosts' Daryl Murphy the chance to shoot. Good defending.

  6. Davis' dream debut?published at 15:36 British Summer Time 19 August 2017

    Villa 1-0 Norwich

    Ged Scott

Surely not many footballers get to fluff a golden chance in the first minute on their league debut, then hear their name being sung by the home fans barely 20 minutes later.

That's what happened to young Aston Villa Academy product Keinan Davis.

The teenager recovered well from his early miss, saved by Angus Gunn, to test the Norwich keeper again with a powerful header. He also created Conor Hourihane's well deserved opening goal with an excellent low right-wing cross before clipping the bar with an impudent lob.

All enough to earn a rousing chorus from the Holte End of 'Keinan Davis, He's One Of Our Own'

    Villa 1-0 Norwich

Midfielder Marco Stiepermann, making his first start for Norwich, tries his luck from outside the area, but misses the target.

    Championship latest

Jordan Hugill has put Preston ahead against Reading. The striker neatly controls the ball on his chest and smashes it home.

Meanwhile Derby have doubled their lead against Bolton and it's that man David Nugent again.

This time Johnny Russell is the provider, sending in a cross which Nugent heads home. It's looking very good for the Rams.

By the way, former Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga is being resoundingly booed by the home fans, every single time he touches the ball for Boro.

And his new side are behind. Could it be a very unhappy return to the City Ground for the 24-year-old?

Since signing from Rangers this summer, the Forest fans have taken a real liking to Barrie McKay - and even more so now, as he gives them an early lead against Middlesbrough!

Kieran Dowell does well, playing it through to McKay who calmly slots past the keeper Darren Randolph. Simple.

  20. 'Air of pensiveness'published at 15:09 British Summer Time 19 August 2017

    Villa 0-0 Norwich

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at Villa Park

There's a detectable air of pensiveness among the home fans for the visit of Norwich City to Villa Park today - not helped by young Kienan Davis's great early chance going to waste.

When the Canaries last dropped by in early April, Villa won 2-0, won again three nights later and looked on course for happy times ahead under Steve Bruce.

But Villa's late season derby win over Birmingham City remains their only victory in eight league games since then. And, following Burton's win over Burton on Friday night, Villa are now bottom of the Championship table.

An experienced Bruce has faith in his team that a first win of the season will turn things round very quickly. And, although it would be surely lunacy for yet another managerial change at Villa Park, he also knows he is reliant on the fans showing faith in him. All on a knife edge, really!
