As is the case at every EFL ground this afternoon, as a mark of respect, black armbands are being worn by the players at Villa Park, following the terror attacks in Spain this week.

    Carlisle 1-0 Cheltenham

A Harry Pell own goal for Cheltenham is the first goal of the 15:00 BST kick-offs.

It's a long way from Cheltenham to Cumbria, to then score an OG. Bad luck, Harry.

    Forest 0-0 Boro

Forest have an early chance but Joe Worrall heads straight at the Boro keeper Darren Randolph.

Both these teams started the afternoon on six points from a possible nine so far.

    Wolves 0-0 Cardiff

It's been a dream start to the season for both Wolves and Cardiff, but at least one of these sides' 100% records must end this afternoon.

If either of them can grab a win today and make it four from four, that would be quite a statement to the rest of the division!

Where's the first goal coming from?

  6. We've got it coveredpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 19 August 2017

So what's the plan for this afternoon I hear you ask?

We'll focus on three games in the Championship to start with, flashing the goals as they go in...

    • Aston Villa v Norwich
    • Nottingham Forest v Middlesbrough
    • Wolves v Cardiff

But don't panic, we'll also keep a close eye on the other matches in the Championship, League One and League Two.

We're pretty flexible here at BBC Towers, so if Villa Norwich is a borefest, we may leave them to get on with it and focus elsewhere.

    Let's see how we go.

  7. Parkinson's Bolton point the waypublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 19 August 2017

    Bolton v Derby (15:00 BST)

    Phil ParkinsonImage source, Rex Features

Derby's first win of the season was by no means a victory for total football. But backing up the solid 1-0 success over Preston in midweek with another win and it will have been a fine start to their first full season under Gary Rowett.

The Rams created and missed some good chances and were worthy winners despite a few late nerves.

After losing at home to Leeds on the opening day, Bolton have managed to pick up a pointin both their away games. That's no mean achievement in the Championship.

Can they get a first league win?

    Preston v Reading (15:00 BST)

Both meetings between these two sides ended in home wins last season, and the SAM (Sports Analytics Machine) super-computer is predicting another one this afternoon.

They're both sitting in mid-table with four points from three games so far this term.

But the Royals are without striker Yann Kermorgant (hip and groin) for potentially up to four months.

Coventry fans have had a miserable time of things over the last few seasons - minus April's EFL Trophy win against Oxford at Wembley.

Relegation from League One, fan protests and low attendances all marred last season.

But 2017-18 has started brightly for the Sky Blues with two victories - the only side to do that in the fourth tier.

Elsewhere, Cambridge, Crawley and Chesterfield are all looking for their first points.

  10. 'We can't just turn up'published at 14:48 British Summer Time 19 August 2017

    Bradford v Blackburn (15:00 BST)

    Tony MowbrayImage source, Rex Features

Blackburn were a lot of people's favourites to go straight back up to the Championship this season - but it's not gone quite to plan for Rovers so far.

Two defeats in two has led manager Tony Mowbray to tell his players that they can't win matches in League One by simply "turning up".

"We have to find more of a competitive edge, there was a feeling that we've got some good players here and we can just turn up and win games," the 53-year-old said.

Blackburn have a tricky trip across the Pennines to face Bradford City today.

I know it's stupidly early to be talking about league tables - but I'm going to.

Oxford are top with two wins from two under new boss Pep Clotet although the Spaniard doesn't look overly pleased about it.

The U's travel to Scunthorpe today.

Five other teams boast a 100% winning start.

Elsewhere, Southend United host Plymouth on the back of a 5-0 thumping at Rotherham - the Millers are at unbeaten Peterborough.

MK Dons, Northampton, Blackburn, Oldham and Bristol Rovers are all looking for a first win of the campaign.

Bristol City v Millwall (15:00 BST)

Bristol City are building a reputation as the Championship's fast starters this season.

They have already scored eight goals in the first 30 minutes of their four games. Being quick out of the blocks has helped Lee Johnson's men win two and draw one in all competitions.

Millwall may not have had the ideal start to life in the Championship, with two defeats and a draw from their three league games.

But they found the net three times against Ipswich last time out their were desperately unfortunate to lose to Nottingham Forest. It's been a better start than the results suggest. I am sure they will have this down as very winnable.

    Ipswich v Brentford (15:00 BST)

Another side still boasting a perfect record in the Championship so far is Ipswich.

In contrast, visitors Brentford are looking for their first league win of the season.

The Tractor Boys are looking to win their opening four league games of a campaign for the first time since 1974.

Having both won three from three in the Championship so far, at least one of these side's 100% records must end this afternoon.

Wolves, inspired by the arrival of Portugal's Ruben Neves in midfield, have impressed with wins against Middlesbrough, Derby and Hull.

Neil Warnock's Cardiff are the only Championship side who are yet to concede a league goal this season.

QPR v Hull City (15:00 BST)

No one is any the wiser as to what the season has in store for QPR or Hull.

One win, one draw and one defeat apiece from the Championship so far was probably very predictable.

The Tigers sold many of their best players in the summer and losing striker Abel Hernandez for six months because of an Achilles injury is a massive setback. But a thumping 4-1 win over Burton showed they still have a fair bit of quality.

Rangers may benefit from a pretty quiet transfer window so far. The big-name signings simply haven't worked in recent times. Manager Ian Holloway seems to prefer a more prudent approach.

QPR v Hull City (15:00 BST)

Polish winger Pawel Wszolek is named on the bench after a back injury so Kazenga LuaLua starts for QPR, who also include recent signing Alex Baptiste in defence. Hull have Frazier Campbell up front but are without Abel Hernandez, who has been ruled out for six months with an Achilles injury.

QPR XI: Smithies, Perch, Onuoha, Baptiste, LuaLua, Scowen, Freeman, Luongo, Bidwell, Washington, Mackie.

Hull XI: McGregor, Aina, Clark, Hector, Dawson, Meyler, Stewart, Bowen, Grosicki, Larsson, Campbell.

    Bolton v Derby (15:00 BST)

Boltonare still without experienced defender David Wheater, who has failed to recover from the back problem which has kept him out since the opening day of the season.

Wales international winger Tom Lawrence, who this week signed from Leicester for an initial fee of £5m,is on the bench for Derby,so the Rams are unchanged following their 1-0 win over Preston.

Bolton XI: Howard, Burke, Dervite, Beevers, Taylor, Morais, Karacan, Pratley (c), Cullen, Madine, Armstrong.

Derby XI: Carson, Wisdom, Olsson, Keogh (c), Davies, Huddlestone, Johnson, Russell, Weimann, Vydra, Nugent.

Midfielder Mile Jedinak (groin) misses out for Villa, while Scott Hogan (ankle) is only fit enough for the bench. Visitors Norwich welcome back former Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome up front, as Nelson Oliveira drops to the bench.

Villa XI: Johnstone, Hutton, Terry, Chester, Taylor, Hourihane, Whelan, Onomah, Green, Elmohamady, Davis.

Norwich XI: Gunn, Martin (c), Zimmermann, Franke, Husband, Reed, Murphy, Naismith, Vrancic, Stiepermann, Jerome.
