  2. Question marks for Acciespublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 29 July 2017

    Group G

It's tight at the top of Group G, where Albion Rovers have been the surprise guys.

Brian Kerr has made an excellent start as manager of the Coatbridge part-timers and they lead top-flight Hamilton on goal-difference.

But Queen of the South are a point behind both - and could still qualify themselves - as they entertain Rovers while Accies host bottom side Stenhousemuir.

Considering Accies are the worst-placed runners-up at the moment, odds are against more than one team emerging as qualifiers from the group.

If Accies miss out on the knock-out stages, manager Martin Canning is likely to face further questions about his decision to rotate his squad during the competition.

  10. Transfer speculation 'affecting Walker's focus' - Cathropublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 29 July 2017

    Hearts v Dunfermline Athletic (15:00)

Hearts head coach Ian Cathro on BBC Radio Scotland: "Of course it was a disappointing evening [against Peterhead]. But we move on very quickly.

"Jamie Walker's been under a lot of attention, a lot of speculation linking him to one particular club. It has been quite a difficult situation for him, and of course we support him. I love his talent but it's just starting to affect his focus and performance levels.

"Jamie's a Hearts player, an incredibly talented one. He just has to respond correctly and work his way back into the team. We'll support him but everyone has to do the right things.

"Connor [Randall] brings different qualities. He's a young player but quite a mature player. He brings a real tenacity and aggression to his play.

"There's a definite difference in quality against Dunfermline. We're very aware of their qualities, of their organisation. We're pleased that we've got a difficult game because we need that."

  11. Caley Thistle and Morton need winspublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 29 July 2017

    Groups A, C and F

With Falkirk having qualified at Group A winners before hosting Brechin city, it is between Stirling Albion and the Bairns' Championship rivals, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, to claim the runners-up spot.

Unfortunately for League Two outfit Stirling, although they are two points ahead of Caley Thistle, they have completed their fixtures and are unlikely to end up as one of the best runners-up even if the Highlanders fail to win away to League One side Forfar Athletic.

Motherwell can use their home game against Berwick Rangers as a training exercise after securing top spot in Group F, while Greenock Morton are the only other side from the section who can qualify despite sitting third.

Like Stirling, second-top Queen's Park have completed their fixtures and will not be among the best runners-up, so Championship outfit Morton need to win at home to League Two outfit Edinburgh City to give themselves a chance.

Meanwhile, in Group C, there are only bragging rights at stake as Raith Rovers host Cowdenbeath in the Fife derby.

  14. Nervy climax for Killiepublished at 14:28 British Summer Time 29 July 2017

    Group E

Having lost the opening fixture of the season, the Ayrshire derby at Somerset Park, Kilmarnock find themselves three points adrift of Ayr United.

Killie are second in Group E, but only a victory at home to Championship side Dumbarton will be good enough for Lee McCulloch's side to progress either as group winners or as one of the best runners-up.

Leaders Ayr, who are away to League Two outfit Annan Athletic, should be favourites to gain the point they need to progress as group winners.

Dumbarton give a debut to Danny Handling, the forward signing yesterday after being released by Hibs as the Sons are only able to name four substitutes.

Dunfermline Athletic manager Allan Johnston on BBC Radio Scotland: "We know it is going to be a tough test against a good Hearts side, especially at Tynecastle.

"But we have a big following and we hope to send them away happy.

"Nicky Clark has been flying for us, but he has been feeling his ankle, and Dean Shiels also misses out.
