Tiptoe: A lucky Dutch goal. England are by far the better team. A bit more composure in front of goal required.

Rachel: England need to play the ball more through midfield, would maybe take White off for Carney, one of the best on the ball

Rob Nicholson: England's technique badly shown up tonight. At times it's like a game of head tennis on the beach. Luck run out I think.

Does anyone agree or disagree with Rob?

    Backlash alert.

There's Sampson's excuse for not winning. Always the first to blame the referee.

    Netherlands 1-0 England

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 live

England started strong and caused the Netherlands problems but the Dutch put England on the back foot and pinned them back. They have made it difficult.

England should have had a penalty, it was clear as anything.

  13. What replay?published at 20:32 British Summer Time 3 August 2017

    HT: Netherlands 1-0 England

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport in Enschede

Funnily enough, no replay was shown inside the stadium of the penalty incident, although we did get one of the balloon bursting earlier. The home fans are not happy with England's appeals for that or the block on Jodie Taylor.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+1 mins

    Netherlands 1-0 England

Off they go for half-time. England have plenty of thinking to do. It's going to be a big 15 minutes for Mark Sampson. What will he change at the break?

  15. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Netherlands 1-0 England

They're in to the final minute of the first 45. The hosts are the happier side so far, that's for sure. They lead and are - as it stands - on course for a first final.

  16. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Netherlands 1-0 England

England try a free-kick routine straight from the training ground, as Jordan Nobbs and Fran Kirby combine with a short one, but Nobbs' eventual shot from long range bounces straight to the keeper.

    Netherlands 1-0 England

Now England want a free-kick inside the Netherlands half as Jodie Taylor - who has barely had a kick tonight - is brought down by Stephanie van der Gragt, halting a Lionesses break.

That was more of a 50:50 though.

    England are frustrated.

  18. 'Penalty all day long!'published at 20:26 British Summer Time 3 August 2017

    Netherlands 1-0 England

    Jonathan Pearce
BBC Radio 5 live commentator in Enschede

England are exasperated! The whole bench are on their feet! Ellen White is fuming and she has every right to be. It's a penalty all day long.

  19. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 39 mins

    Netherlands 1-0 England

England want a penalty as Desiree van Lunteren gives Ellen White an elbow in the back as a cross comes in to the box.

I've definitely seen those given. White went down under the challenge as she was knocked off balance. The referee says no.

    on 81111

I hate to say it but where have we heard England's opponents are bossing possession before? For as long as many of us can remember watching the men's team. What is it about English football that we still don't get about the importance of possession? I sincerely hope we go on to win tonight and again on Sunday but as the men's team know all too well sooner or later if you can't keep the ball your luck runs out.
