Bizarre isn't it. Kane spends all August shooting without success.

Come September, he scores with an effort that might not even have been intended as a shot.

August is over. It can mean only one thing - Harry Kane scores.

Whether he meant to or not is a different matter. A corner from the left swings through everyone and out to right, where Kane is able to pick up possession. He takes a glance up and curls the ball over the diving Jordan Pickford and in.

Was it a cross? Was it a shot? Whatever it was, it means Kane now has 100 goals for Spurs.

Excellent work from Cuco Martina, steers Everton out of a potential hole. Tottenham come forward and look to have worked an opening for Christian Eriksen in the box but before the Dabe can pull the trigger, Martina nips in to challenge, win the ball and clear.

Very tight affair this. There have been chances but not many. Tottenham have had the best of them.

Ambitious. Or maybe not, considering it is Gylfi Sigurdsson with the strike. The ball drops to him on the edge of the box and he goes for a volley but slices it high and wide.

When you score from near halfway, a volley from the edge of the box should be simple. Boo, Gylfi, boooooo!!!

Oh, Tottenham could be 2-0 by now. Ben Davies is found out wide by Christian Eriksen, whose pull back looks certain to set Moussa Sissoko for a finish, but his effort is blocked.

It is harmless in the end as Sigurdsson floats his delivery over everyone and out for a goal-kick. He's much better than that.

    Big chance!

Dele Alli produces a superb bit of control to chest down a powerful cross in the box and tee up Christian Eriksen, but the Dane pulls his shot wide.

Should have at least hit the target.
