Summary

  • Ballinamallard Utd 0-2 Ards

  • Cliftonville 3-2 Linfield

  • Warrenpoint 2-2 Carrick Rangers

  1. SAVE!published at 15:42 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Cliftonville 0-1 Linfield

What a chance! Gormley surges through the middle after an incisive pass from Curran and finds himself one-on-one with Carroll. You would have expected the net to bulge but the Linfield stopper makes himself as big as possible to block Gormley's effort.

That's two very presentable opportunities the striker has passed up.

  2. Blues looking comfortablepublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Cliftonville 0-1 Linfield

The momentum has been sucked out of Cliftonville after that goal and the injury to Cosgrove. There have been a couple of crosses into the Linfield box in the last five minutes, but their defence has had no problem clearing any potential danger. After a bright start it just looks as though the home side are lacking a few ideas up front.

  3. Even at Ferney Parkpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Ballinamallard 0-0 Ards

Not much to report so far. It's been an even match with precious little goal-scoring chances.

  4. goal

GOALpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Ballymena Utd 0-1 Coleraine

Stephen O'Donnell heads the Bannsiders in front on 32 minutes. It is a deserved lead for the table-toppers with the big defender meeting a flick-on from Darren McCauley's free-kick at the backpost and heading beyond keeper Conor Brennan to find the net.

  5. Nasty injurypublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Cliftonville 0-1 Linfield

Tomas Cosgrove's day is over after a nasty clash of heads. Hopefully it's not as serious as it first looked. As soon as Cosgrove hit the ground, Mulgrew signalled to the bench for treatment. He's been stretchered off and Jamie Harney has come on to replace him.

  6. Coleraine in controlpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Ballymena Utd 0-0 Coleraine

The visitors are bossing possession and pressing for the opener but they have failed to seriously trouble Sky Blues keeper Conor Brennan. United pose a threat on their occasional breaks while tempers have frayed in the last few minutes - proper order for a derby surely!

  7. MISS!published at 15:27 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Cliftonville 0-1 Linfield

Gormley gets his first clear-cut chance of the afternoon. Rory Donnelly did really well on the right, getting the better of Haughey before firing a low cross to the striker, who blazed it well over the bar from 12 yards.

That should have been on target.

  8. Linfield pressing quicklypublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Cliftonville 0-1 Linfield

Really good contest at Solitude. Lavery charges forward for the Reds before finding Gormley. However, Robert Garrett immediately wins the ball off the striker and is then fouled. Really impressive display of ball-winning in midfield from the Linfield man. After a slow start, the Blues really look tuned in.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Cliftonville 0-1 Linfield

Jordan Stewart becomes the first player to pick up a booking after cynically tugging at Liam Bagnall's shirt after the Reds man had nicked possession and looked to counter.

  10. Bradley blazes overpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Ballymena Utd 0-0 Coleraine

A poor finish from Bannsiders striker Eoin Bradley. A nice one-two with Brad Lyons gives him space 14 yards but he gets it all wrong by firing the ball almost as high as the nearby Slemish Mountain!

  11. goal

GOALpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Cliftonville 0-1 Linfield

    Aaron Burns opens the scoring!

A hint of smash-and-grab about it, you could say, but Linfield have taken the lead and that's all that matters. It was Chris Casement's brilliant delivery from the right, met by Burns on the run, who poked it past Neeson to give the champions the lead.

It's a crushing blow for the Reds, who had started well, but they'll have to pick themselves up and try to turn it around like they did at Carrick last week.

  12. CLOSE!published at 15:12 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Cliftonville 0-0 Linfield

Linfield haven't turned up yet. A slack pass to the wing is intercepted by Tomas Cosgrove, who motors up the right flank and clips it to Gormley. The striker shimmies to the left and tries a looping left-footed volley, but it's just too high.

Barry Gray will be pleased with this start.

  13. Reds starting stronglypublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Cliftonville 0-0 Linfield

First promising sequence of passes put together by the home side as Levi Ives surges forward and finds Joe Gormley. He lays it off to Jude Winchester, who shapes to shoot before slotting it back to the striker. But it's strong defending from Linfield, who clear it for a corner.

    Cliftonville have started well.

  14. goal

GOALpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Warrenpoint Town 0-1 Carrick Rangers

Andrew Mooney heads in a fifth minute opener for Rangers. Mark Surgenor delivers a cross to the backpost and Mooney sends his header past Town keeper Alan Blaney. Perfect start for the visitors.

  15. Frantic startpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Ballymena Utd 0-0 Coleraine

Just a couple of minutes played and both teams have already threatened - United let the ball bounce in their box and a mix-up led to keeper Conor Brennan punching out with the ball luckily falling to a Sky Blues team-mate. Seconds later and the Bannsiders clear off the line after a shot comes in from a corner.

  16. Off and runningpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Cliftonville 0-0 Linfield

We're under way at Solitude. Cliftonville have a free-kick in a promising position but it comes to nothing.

  17. Team Newspublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 30 September 2017

    Ballinamallard v Ards

Gavin Dykes makes one change from the defeat to Ballymena last week, with Shane McGinty coming in for Niall Owens.

Four changes for Ards as Adam McAleenan, Guillame Keke, David Elebert and Gareth Tommons replace Callum Byers, Nathan Hanley, Michael McLellan and David McAllister.

    Ballymena United v Coleraine

Ballymena boss David Jeffrey has warm words of praise for the job his Coleraine counterpart Oran Kearney and assistant William Murphy are doing.

Of course they learned from the best - Kearney and Murphy played under Jeffrey during his trophy-laden years as manager of Linfield.
