    Mark Uth

    Hello!

Mark Uth does have his scoring boots on and the volume has gone down just a notch.

The sub is found on the right by a Sandro Wagner pass, and Uth slides a low, right-footed strike past the reach of Simon Mignolet and into the bottom corner.

    Surely not...?

That's made Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and the Reds faithful feel better. Klopp takes a short run down the touchline and swings his arm in the air in celebration. He's happy. He points to his team as if to say, 'Lok at the football'.

Liverpool fans swirl their scarves in the air and are in party mood.

Yinka Afolabi‏: The game has ended quickly, hasn't it?

Mark Ryan: Wow! Could any team defend against this pace and movement from Liverpool?

Johnny Magrinho: Thought Nagelsmann said playing at Anfield was going to be easy? Yeah right! 3 goals already & we're nowhere near finished yet!

  4. WHAT A MISSpublished at 26 mins

    Liverpool 3-0 Hoffenheim (agg: 5-1)

Hoffenheim should have pulled a goal back, but Serge Gnabry's clipped effort from the angle - with Simon Mignolet closing in on him - drifts wide of goal.

The visitors lacking Liverpool clinicalness. Or is it clinicality? You know what I'm getting at.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 24 mins

    Liverpool 3-0 Hoffenheim (agg: 5-1)

Liverpool's early onslaught forces Julian Nagelsmann to make a change.

Former West Ham man Havard Nordtveit is being hooked, on comes Mark Uth, who netted in the first leg.

Hope he has his scoring boots on tonight.

    Emre Can

    Stunning stuff.

Liverpool slicing open Hoffenheim like a tin of tuna.

Same men involved again, this time Sadio Mane running clear and laying on Roberto Firmino with ANOTHER back-heel.

The Brazilian clips a ball to the back post for Emre Can to stroke home his second from a couple of yards out with ease.

  8. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 2-0 Hoffenheim (agg: 4-1)published at 18 mins

    Mohamed Salah

    Tie over?

Liverpool are too good for Hoffenheim and look like they have booked their place in Thursday's Champions League group stages draw.

Roberto Firmino is the main man again, drifting in from the left before passing the ball off to Georginio Wijnaldum, who strikes across goal and onto the post.

But it falls nicely to Mohamed Salah, six yards out to tuck the ball into the net.

Offside? Nope. He was well on.

    Liverpool 1-0 Hoffenheim (agg: 3-1)

They may have fallen behind, but the Hoffenheim supporters are still singing loudly in that away end.

The question is, though, do their side possess enough quality to overturn the tie?

  10. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Hoffenheim (agg: 3-1)

That goal has allowed Liverpool to settle and move the ball around the newly-laid Anfield turf.

When Hoffenheim gain the ball back, they cannot get out of their own half, being camped in because of Liverpool's press.

    Liverpool 1-0 Hoffenheim (agg: 3-1)

Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann, blue pin-striped shirt and gilet, chomps on his chewing gum in the dugout.

His side have not started well.

Will he stick with what he has or decide to shake it up a little?

  13. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 1-0 Hoffenheim (agg: 3-1)published at 10 min

    Emre Can

    Just what they needed.

Roberto Firmino starts this move with a superb pass through to Sadio Mane, who breaks clear.

Mane then has the composure to hold the ball up in the box and wait for a team-mate.

It is Emre Can providing assistance, latching on to a magnificent Mane back-heel to slot the ball into the bottom corner via a slight deflection.

That goal does not change anything, Hoffenheim still need to score twice.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is taking all the set-pieces again for Liverpool, but this time is free-kick into the box from the right flank is cleared by the visitors.

    100mph start to this game.

  15. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Hoffenheim (agg: 2-1)

Just some warning signs for Liverpool.

They are carved open at the back as Kerem Demirbay finds space down the left (where was Alberto Moreno?) and puts a ball into the box for Serge Gnabry, who somehow shoots wide from six yards out.

He was offside so it would not have counted anyway.

Remember, Hoffenheim need to score at least twice tonight.

  16. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 5 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Hoffenheim (agg: 2-1)

It is all Liverpool early on.

The ball drops in the six yard box for Sadio Mane, who tries to hook the ball towards goal, but a player in white nicks it away from Mane's toe.

There was a shout for a penalty there as Kerem Demirbay leans in to a corner kick, but the referee waves play on.

  17. CLOSE!published at 3 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Hoffenheim (agg: 2-1)

This time Trent Alexander-Arnold's free-kick hits the top of the ball and it loops invitingly into the area for Mohamed Salah, but the Egyptian winger nods over from close range.

Liverpool have started in rapid fashion and Sadio Mane is played through one-on-one with Oliver Baumann, but the Hoffenheim goalkeeper stands tall to keep out Mane's low drive.

He should have buried it, in all honesty.
