Wales are pushing forward but leaving gaps in behind for Austria to break into.

They need to change the system and get an extra man in the middle of the park.

This is the worst I've seen Wales pass the ball in a long time. Austria should be in front but Wales can only get better.

I'm worried by Ian Brown's notebook. Amazing detail, but they do look like the pads Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman find in Kevin Spacey's flat in Seven.

Ian Brown's scrawly commentators notes. He'll never change - he's been doing them this way for thirty years, he says they're more exciting this way.

Both sides are favouring the left-hand side of the pitch down which to stage their attacks.

Marko Arnautovic has proved a threat for Austria, while Bale has looked to get moves going on that side for Wales.

Wales will be content, but only because Austria should be ahead. They'll be delighted to get in goalless and hopefully regroup after the break.

    Tense and tight.

Austria are the better team but Wales are battling and remain firmly in the game.

What a waste. Ramsey chips the free-kick straight into the hands of Heinz Lindner.

Chance for Wales in injury time. Vokes is fouled and they can swing this free-kick into the box...

That was terrible defensive play by Austria but Danso's mis-kick actually put Ramsey off and the visitors escape.

    What is Heinz Lindner doing?!

He is under no pressure initially from a back-pass, but dwells, allowing Gareth Bale to close down before playing a pass in front of his own goal that almost presents an open net to Ramsey until Kevin Danso scurries across to slice the ball partly away before a team-mate does the rest.

I'm glad you're smiling Heinz. None of your team-mates are.

That was very, very close to an Austria opener.

Oh, so close! Austria are inches away as David Alaba threads a pass into the box for Marcel Sabitzer, who drags his shot just wide of the far post.

    Another let-off for Wales.

The pace of this match has plummeted as Austria have seized control.

The visitors are bossing possession and starting to create chances, which is making for an uneasy atmosphere among the home fans in Cardiff.

Gareth Bale's first involvement in the game for some time sees him drive down the left before scooping a pass up to Aaron Ramsey that wins Wales a corner.

Ramsey takes but James Chester can only head well wide at the back post.

Austria's turn to have a pop. The ball is fed into the box from the left (it is all coming from that side) and falls to Marcel Sabitzer, but his effort on the turn is claimed and held by the diving Wayne Hennessey.

    Tom Lawrence... wide!

The ball drops to the midfielder on the edge of the box but he slices his shot just wide of goal.

A lot of stoppages in the last 10 minutes, for niggly fouls. It has neutralised the contest somewhat.

Chris Coleman in his programme notes wanted the sellout crowd to be the 'twelfth man' and they're doing their bit with Wales under the cosh.

The red wall hasn't stopped singing under the lights. It's non-stop as Wales struggle to get on the front foot.

Arnautovic creeps into the box unmarked - Austria wouldn't want it to fall to anyone else but he hits it over the bar. What a chance!

    Wales 0-0 Austria

    Oh, what a chance!

Marko Arnautovic is set up by a wonderful outside-of-the-foot pass from Julian Baumgartlinger, but with just the keeper to beat, on an angle on the left, the West Ham man curls his effort over the corner of the goal frame.

    It should be 0-1.
