    Jay Rodriguez (13 mins)

    Well, that didn't last long...

What a reply from Albion. Gareth Barry, a key part in City's success under Roberto Mancini, rolls back the years with a clipped pass that catches the City defence square. Jay Rodriguez pounces to lob the ball over the advancing Ederson and into the empty net.

    Liverpool 0-0 Huddersfield

Huddersfield are intent on testing Simon Mingolet's nerves.

A vicious swirling corner delivery comes swooping down on the Liverpool goalkeeper and he punches clear rather unconvincingly.

    Arsenal 0-0 Swansea

First chance for Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez's corner picks out the head of Per Mertesacker. The BFG heads straight at ex-Gunners keeper Lukasz Fabianski.

It really is brilliant to watch. Their movement, their changing of positions and the trust the players have of each other is brilliant.

Leroy Sane just dropped his shoulder and it is a superb shot! The goalkeeper had absolutely no chance.

    Leroy Sane (10 mins)

Manchester tattooists start up your lasers! It might not be as important as that goal in Monaco, but it is certainly one for Leroy Sane to remember.

The German pounces on a loose ball to blast in an angled drive, City finding the breakthrough after just 12 minutes. Ominous signs for Albion.

    West Brom 0-0 Man City

We discovered today that Leroy Sane has a tattoo on his back of him celebrating his goal in the Champions League tie against Monaco last season.

If he scores today then will we see it depicted on his upper thigh? Probably not. But he comes close to opening the scoring, seeing a shot blocked by Ahmed Hegazi.

    Liverpool 0-0 Huddersfield

Liverpool are playing with their full-backs pressed right up field.

Alberto Moreno doesn't need asking twice to bomb on and the Spaniard sees a dangerous early cross cut out by a stretching Zanka.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 West Ham

Wilfried Zaha's pace and movement is already asking questions of the West Ham defence.

Palace are a whole different kettle of football with him in the pot.

Slaven Bilic's brow is already weighing heavy on the sidelines.

    Arsenal 0-0 Swansea

Sit back, contain and try and nab something on the break. Swansea's gameplan is a carbon copy of Huddersfield's.

Eleven Swansea shirts are lined up like a rack of bowling pins as Arsenal try to skittle them. No chances yet for the home side though.

    Watford 0-0 Stoke

Watford have started with the swagger befitting a side all the way up in sixth.

They are popping the ball around confidently while Stoke shuffle side-to-side like a bank of table football defenders.

All the players are already back in the West Brom half, trying to make things difficult for Manchester City.

There probably won't be many surprises to how they will set-up today.

    West Brom 0-0 Man City

Albion skipper Jonny Evans passed a late fitness test to start against the side who wanted to sign him last summer.

And it looks - already - like Evans and his colleagues are going to be busy this afternoon. Manchester City are alredy dominating possession in the Albion half, Fabian Delph dragging a long-range shot wide.

    Liverpool 0-0 Huddersfield

Huddersfield have come with their plan for the afternoon and are not ashamed of it.

Plenty of men behind the ball and plenty of possession conceded to Liverpool.

Ragnar Klavan, called into the home line-up at late notice after an injury to Dejan Lovren, allows the pressure to lift with a needless foul however...

Few teams have frightened Manchester City this season. Maybe a few Albion fans dressing up in Hallowe'en gear might spook the visitors...

The players are out at The Hawthorns as Pep Guardiola and Tony Pulis exchange a warm hug on the touchline. Clash of cultures.

  18. 'Baggies need to be at dogged best'published at 14:56 British Summer Time 28 October 2017

West Brom v Manchester City (15:00 BST)

I read this week that, under Tony Pulis, West Brom have had less of the ball, external than their opponents in 93 of 103 Premier League games.

Let's just call it 94 from 104 now, with the Baggies almost certain to be out-passed and needing to be at their dogged and defensive best to get a result.

Encouragement could come from how they ran City close in the Carabao Cup in September despite having only a third of possession - and from near-neighbours Wolves going even closer whilst seeing even less of the ball in midweek.

That, or a plan altogether more cunning: substitute the ball for one that's a little bit lighter., external

As the side that finished last season immediately above the relegation zone, Watford can consider themselves as the most improved team in the Premier League.

There was certainly a feeling that they missed an opportunity for another famous win at Chelsea last weekend. It typifies their encouraging progress so far.

Like Watford, Stoke have succumbed to both Manchester City and Chelsea - but they have lost three additional games too.

Their heartening displays against Arsenal and Manchester United have long since been forgotten. A greatly improved performance at Vicarage Road now seems a must.

It is a former manager who forever binds these clubs together.

The great Bill Shankly, external won three Championships, two FA Cups and the Uefa Cup in his 15 years on Merseyside and moved there after resigning as Huddersfield boss in December 1959 - just days after they beat Liverpool.

The Terriers haven't beaten them since but, as they demonstrated against Manchester United, David Wagner's side are history makers and will relish the chance to bloody the nose of another Premier League giant.

Liverpool, and particularly Jurgen Klopp, cannot afford any such embarrassment.
