It's a grim wet afternoon at Selhurst Park and it reflects the fortunes of these two. Both sides have favourable fixtures on the horizon and both need to string a run of wins together. David Unsworth has shuffled his Everton pack and it looks an adventurous front four with Lennon, Sigurdsson and Lookman behind Niasse.

While Palace who've scored just four League goals this season (three from Palace players) resist the temptation to bring back Christian Benteke back after seven weeks out, he starts on the bench.

Let's hope the game rises above the bleak conditions.

It could be an edgy afternoon at Selhurst Park for the start of a run of games that could define Crystal Palace’s season.

Starting with the visit of Everton today, Palace’s next eight games are against sides outside the top six, the picture should become a lot clearer by Christmas.

Can Everton kick on after the dramatic win last time out against Watford? David Unsworth will be buoyed by the stats. Everton are unbeaten in their past five league games against Palace while the latter have won only one of their eight Premier League home games versus Everton. If that continues today Unsworth will have a slightly tighter grip on the manager's job.

Though only a point separated them in last season's league table, the subsequent months have been dramatically different for Burnley and Swansea.

The Clarets have been enjoying their best top-flight start for 44 years, while the Swans have been enduring their worst start to a campaign since, er, well, last season!

The two sides are a massive 11 points apart, yet they do both share one trait in common - neither are prolific in front of goal.

Burnley have scored only three more than the Swans and only once have they scored more than one, and that was on the opening day at Chelsea.

A stoic, superbly drilled side, Sean Dyche's men have become the 1-0 specialists in recent years; many will be predicting a similar scoreline this weekend.

I expected to be covering the first match for a new Everton manager but obviously that's not the case. Instead, interim manager David Unsworth takes charge for a fifth time, having emerged with his first points last time out against Watford.

With pressure eased on Everton, it still weighs heavily on Crystal Palace. Last month's win against Chelsea is their only victory in seven league matches since Roy Hodgson was appointed manager.

It brings back memories of how he recorded only one win in his first 10 league games as Fulham boss back in 2007-08 yet still avoided relegation.

Palace now face a run of eight consecutive fixtures against teams outside the top six and simply have to start winning to kick-start their revival.

This is an occasion Southampton's manager Mauricio Pellegrino is clearly relishing. He had spells at Liverpool, external as both a player and a coach under Rafa Benitez and has good memories of his time on Merseyside.

His return to Anfield is one of several links between the two clubs this weekend. Liverpool could include two former Saints; Sadio Mane has recovered from a minor hamstring issue, and there's the possibility of Adam Lallana making his first appearance of the season after injury against his old club.

We'll also get to see Virgil van Dijk playing at Anfield, which is something he fancied doing on a regular basis when Liverpool unsuccessfully bid for him in the summer. That might still come to pass, with renewed speculation of a move away, external from St Mary's in January.

Sadio Mane brushes off any concerns over a hamstring complaint picked up on international duty as he starts for Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp makes four changes from the side which won 4-1 at West Ham.

Trent Alexander-Arnold comes in for Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren is in for the injured Joel Matip, Jordan Henderson returns as Emre Can hits the bench and Philippe Coutinho plays, so Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is among the replacements.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Firmino, Coutinho, Salah, Henderson, Klavan, Moreno, Mane, Alexander-Arnold. Subs: Karius, Sturridge, Gomez, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Solanke, Milner, Can.

Chelsea: Courtois, Christensen, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Kante, Zappacosta, Fabregas, Bakayoko, Alonso, Morata, Hazard. Subs: Caballero, Rudiger, Drinkwater, Pedro, Willian, Luiz, Ampadu.

Benik Afobe played against current club Bournemouth for Huddersfield when the two sides met in 2011

So much has changed for both Bournemouth and Huddersfield since they met in the semi-finals of the League One play-offs in 2011, when dreams of reaching the top division were exactly that.

Six and a half years on, both come into their first Premier League meeting looking for an improvement in front of goal.

Bournemouth have scored only three goals at home in the league this season, while Huddersfield haven't netted on their travels since winning 3-0 at Crystal Palace on the opening weekend back in August.

The Cherries' home form of one win, one draw and three defeats is the same as Huddersfield's away record, which suggests this is a tough one to predict.
