Sam Allardyce ruffles no feathers in his first team selection as he sticks with the same line-up David Unsworth used in the midweek win over West Ham. That means Wayne Rooney will play deep, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is up top and the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Keane are on the bench.

Everton XI: Pickford, Kenny, Holgate, WIlliams, Martina, Gueye. Lennon, Rooney, Davies, Sigurdsson, Calvert-Lewin.

Huddersfield make five changes from the 5-0 loss at Arsenal. Tommy Smith returns to captain the side, while Scott Malone, Danny Williams, Laurent Depoitre and Thomas Ince come in. Martin Cranie and Steve Mounie are among those left on the bench.

Huddersfield XI: Lossly, Smith, Jorgensen, Schindler, Malone, Mooy, Williams, Kachunga, Ince, Quaner, Depoitre.

    Brighton v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

Brighton have rather provocatively put an Aussie on the front cover of their programme today, just rubbing it in a little that their rugby league team beat England to win the World Cup this morning and their cricket team has had the better of the first day of the 2nd Test in Adelaide.

We can’t hold that against Mat Ryan though who has the job today of trying to stop the Premier League’s top-scorer Mo Salah. The only team to come and win at the Amex so far this season was Manchester City on the opening weekend, since then it’s been two wins for Brighton against West Brom and Newcastle and four successive draws.

West Brom v Crystal Palace (15:00 GMT)

It's funny how things turn out in the Premier League managerial merry-go-round.

Alan Pardew was sacked by Crystal Palace a year ago with the team in 17th place. Now he starts work at The Hawthorns with Albion in the same position and facing his former employers in his first game.

Pardew will be hoping to provide an immediate lift to a side who haven't won in 12 matches.

Palace appear to be on an upward trend with nine points from the last seven games, and secured their first away point at Brighton on Tuesday.

Roy Hodgson's Hawthorns welcome is likely to be a warm one. He led West Brom to a 10th-place finish in 2012 before taking the England job.

There is another managerial debut today of course - West Brom take on Roy Hodgson's Crystal Palace in Alan Pardew's first match in charge.

It's a big one - a win for Palace would draw them level on points with the Baggies, and could see them climb out of the bottom three.

Pardew will want to get off to a winning beginning - and start climbing up the table.

There he is, the big man! Sam Allardyce looks imposing even on A5 paper.

In the programme he promises to build a team full of ‘energy and purpose’...he hasn’t said they’ll play good football though.

The school of science meets the school of Sam, I suspect it’ll take a while to learn whether or not they have a shared curriculum.

Goodison Park welcomes Huddersfield, who have lost their past three league games and have been slipping down the table.
