We will give the last words to the key man on the day - Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

He showed some flicks and finishes of class in a game void of widespread quality. It all boils down to a key win and a landmark win for new boss Sam Allardyce.

In truth, his side will be tested far more rigorously but they have back-to-back wins to build from and suddenly, the crisis talk of last week all feels a tad premature.

Well done Everton. Huddersfield fans, hang in there.

Thanks for your company today one and all. Have a great weekend.

    Everton 2-0 Huddersfield

Everton's main man today Dominic Calvert-Lewin tells media he is "thoroughly enjoying" leading the line at his tender age.

He admits to the home side being "frustrated" in the first half but feels they can take plenty into next week's Merseyside derby.

"We have a new manager and we are winning games so we have to take confidence into the next games and keep building on the performances and results," he says.

I'm not sure where Huddersfield take things from here. Some moments of industry and application. Aaron Mooy looks to have quality, Elias Kachunga has a turn of pace. Other than that there seems to be a lack of killer instinct and guile in the final third.

They are now 15th and without a win in four.

Sam Allardyce - played one, won one.

He has Dominic Calvert-Lewin to thank for an assist and a goal. Job done.

Allardyce turns to applaud fans from the dugout and pumps his fist three times.

It wasn't pretty, in fact on times the game was brutally boring, but a win is a win and Everton are up to 10th.

There's a bit more confidence in Everton's passing as suddenly players are offering more angles on the ball. Liverpool up next for them of course...

We are into stoppage time, there will be three minutes. In all fairness the game finished about 10 minutes ago.

I think this is going to be a good partnership between Allardyce and Everton.

A long ball forward looks to spring Laurent Depoitre for Huddersfield but Jordan Pickford is out on the edge of his area to gather easily.

Huddersfield continue to push and probe with little cutting edge. Aaron Mooy looks to swing in a delivery but good pressure from Ademola Lookman means the cross will roll to Jordan Pickford. Everton easing over the line here...

  9. Man of the match?published at 16:44 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2017

    Everton 2-0 Huddersfield

By my reckoning, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has only started 20 games for Everton in all competitions so his return of seven goals at the age of 20 is pretty impressive. A goalscorer and the creator of the key opening goal today, he's done very well indeed.

I am impressed by Aaron Mooy, I must say. He's all over the ball and as Idrissa Gueye and Gylfi Sigurdsson attempt a one-two to unlock the away defence, he's sliding in to intercept.

    Everton 2-0 Huddersfield

It's been a battle this but as Everton head clear another Huddersfield corner, they can claim to have just about found enough quality in this second half to get the job done.

Looking at the goals - the first was made by Dominic Calvert-Lewin - the second finished by him. Both offered the tiny ray of quality Huddersfield don't seem to have.

Wayne Rooney - creator of Calvert-Lewin's goal - is going off, Michael Keane comes on.

Tommy Smith tries to hit straight back for the away side by fizzing a shot through bodies from range. It's an easy hold for Jordan Pickford.

Sam Allardyce has the Midas touch. He turns to his bench with a big smile, job done.

The Toffees win the ball in midfield and Wayne Rooney has a little space to explore. He sees Dominic Calvert-Lewin peel away with his run and finds him.

The striker runs into the area and gets a shot off left-footed which deflects over the keeper off Mathias Jorgensen.

We are done here, someone switch the lights off.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 71 mins

    Everton 1-0 Huddersfield

Steve Mounie is on up front for Huddersfield and it's a defender in Scott Malone departing.

Aaron Lennon makes way for Ademola Lookman. Lennon has been decent.

  15. Postpublished at 68 mins

    Everton 1-0 Huddersfield

This win would take Everton 10th. Not bad considering they were in crisis at Southampton a week ago.

Aaron Lennon fouls Danny Williams and we are about to get two changes.

  16. Postpublished at 67 mins

    Everton 1-0 Huddersfield

Elias Kachunga wins a foul from Mason Holgate and Aaron Mooy floats in from the free-kick... headed away. Huddersfield are having a go but look as dangerous as a man trying to fell an oak tree with a child's scissors.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 65 mins

    Everton 1-0 Huddersfield

Everton are still seeing less of the ball across the whole game but that figure of 44.1% has improved since the break. They have got better but I get the feeling they are now reaching that point in the game where they decide whether to stick or twist.

Tom Davies is going off - a quiet day for him in truth - Morgan Schneiderlin is coming on.

Huddersfield, so well organised and determined, are having to come out of their shell more and have already shown a greater threat.

Sam Allardyce is ordering Everton not to drop too deep, but they are being pushed back.

Gylfi Sigurdsson's goal was out of character with the rest of his performance, which had been dreadful, but the £45m man has made the contribution that mattered.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 62 mins

    Everton 1-0 Huddersfield

Jonas Lossl denies Dominic Calvert-Lewin's instinctive strike from 25 yards with a diving save.

Mason Holgate is up for the subsequent corner and he looks like he may beat Lossl to the ball, only for it to loop away without harm.

  20. Postpublished at 60 mins

    Everton 1-0 Huddersfield

Scott Malone gets forward from left-back to join an attack which is again orchestrated by Aaron Mooy. Malone wins a corner which Mooy takes. It's cleared, Everton holding strong.

I get the feeling Sammy Lee and Sam Allardyce are discussing a change...
