Everton 0-0 Huddersfield
Everton win a free-kick on the right flank and, some may say in Sam Allardyce fashion, it is pumped into the box. No messing, direct stuff and easily caught by Jonas Lossl.
Everton 0-0 Huddersfield
We are off. The Sam Allardyce era has officially started at Everton football club.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin gets the ball down and begins a move but it's a chaotic start. Pinball, not football.

There's a hint of pressure on Big Sam today as no permanent Everton manager has lost his first game in charge. You wouldn't want to take that record on on your own would you?
Allardyce, who has not managed since his swift exit as England boss, has grand ambitions though and wants to make a mark in the 18 months he has signed up for.
"They finished seventh last year and it's my job to steer them back in the right direction and get among the European places and the FA Cup final or League Cup final," he says.

"Ladies and gentleman, please welcome the new manager of Everton football club, Sam Allardyce..."
That's the message on the loudspeaker and Allardyce steps out into the arena to applause. He claps above his head in return.

Everton of course enter this fixture of the back of a win over West Ham which will be remembered for THAT Wayne Rooney goal.
His strike from the halfway line was as joyous as pigs in blankets on Christmas Day.
David Unsworth was able to bow out of temporary manager a winner and lost in the carnage of a crazy 48 hours at Goodison Park was the fact Everton kept a first clean sheet since the opening day of the season.
The players line up for the traditional handshake and the away players quickly sprint away. Their travelling contingent sing "Huddersssssfield... Hudderssssfield..."
Meanwhile the guy on the loudspeaker runs through the teams but begins "now, lining up for the mighty blues..."

It's a busy time of year.
You've started your Christmas shopping, you're searching for that killer shirt or skirt to wear to your work Christmas party, your family are starting to nag about Christmas Day, I know, I know, it's tough.
So no hard feelings if with all this on your mind, you missed Big Sam's grand unveiling. Take a look at the video and you'll be up to speed.

"It's a grand old team to play for, it's a grand old team to support..."
The loudspeaker belts the traditional Everton tune out.
Wayne Rooney puts his head in his hands for a final moment of reflection.
"Let's go boys," says an official.
"Let's go boys COME ON," someone shouts from the Huddersfield line-up.

We are moments from having players in the cramped Goodsinon Park tunnel. The pitch is clear, some kids wait holding a flag just outside the tunnel and we are good to go. A huge flag hangs from the Gwladys Street end declaring 'Support the Foodbank'.
And here come the players into the tunnel. Wayne Rooney fronts the Everton line.

Guy Mowbray
Match of the Day commentator at Goodison Park
"It's December, so we can now talk about Christmas, which came early for Everton this week anyway.
"What do you do when your phone breaks? You want a shiny new one, but in the meantime go back to an old model which has always worked perfectly well.
"So it might end up for Everton, who haven't got the manager on top of their list, but have got one that's (nearly) always worked and whose battery never runs out.
"All Huddersfield want is an away win - or at least a goal. They haven't scored away since their opening day victory at Crystal Palace.
"Their last four away results? 0-2, 0-3, 0-4, 0-5. With the timing of this one, improvement might be relative."

I'm still getting over last week's predictions where Hollywood actor Will Ferrell said Mark Lawrenson looked like a disheveled sea captain. Such a great line.
Lawro takes on comedian Nish Kumar this week. He's gone for 2-0 to the Toffees in this one.
You can play the predictor game by clicking here. And you can learn more about Nish Kumar and his predictions by clicking play above.

A warning for the home side, Huddersfield have tweeted a video of their players finding the net in the warm up. You have been warned...

Former Liverpool legend Sammy Lee's appointment as Everton assistant manager has been badly received by the majority of those supporters who still remember his Anfield links.
So it was a significant moment when Everton chairman Bill Kenwright made a point of walking on to the pitch and shaking hands with Lee in front of the Gwladys Street End as the players warmed up.
Nice for Lee, who has worked with new Everton manager Sam Allardyce at Bolton Wanderers, West Ham United and with England, to see a friendly face.
The players are going through their final warm-up drills on the pitch. Huddersfield begin to make their way in but it looks like Everton will do a bit more. The sprinklers come on in the half of the pitch Huddersfield vacate as the ground slowly fills.

Everton have hit the emergency button this week to bring in big Sam as we know.
It's fitting then that his first game serves up Huddersfield, a team who have not beaten the Toffees at Goodison Park since 1937. What was special about that year? It was the year the emergency 999 number came into existence.
There's something beautiful in this coincidence. I just don't know what it is.

Sam Allardyce ruffles no feathers in his first team selection as he sticks with the same line-up David Unsworth used in the midweek win over West Ham. That means Wayne Rooney will play deep, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is up top and the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Keane are on the bench.
Everton XI: Pickford, Kenny, Holgate, WIlliams, Martina, Gueye. Lennon, Rooney, Davies, Sigurdsson, Calvert-Lewin.
Huddersfield make five changes from the 5-0 loss at Arsenal. Tommy Smith returns to captain the side, while Scott Malone, Danny Williams, Laurent Depoitre and Thomas Ince come in. Martin Cranie and Steve Mounie are among those left on the bench.
Huddersfield XI: Lossly, Smith, Jorgensen, Schindler, Malone, Mooy, Williams, Kachunga, Ince, Quaner, Depoitre.

There's something beautiful about fans streaming into a football ground. It warms me deep inside. The smell of pies, the smell of vinegar on chips, they lace these parts.
And at this time of year we see the opportunistic salesmen/women on stalls crack out the Santa knitwear. Beautiful stuff. Lap it up one and all.
Team news coming next.

Huddersfield fans, I've not forgotten you. Hopefully you understand that there's a little extra focus on Everton for now - that will change come kick-off I promise.
Dare I say it, it's beginning to go slightly wrong for Huddersfield. That early-season brilliance has ebbed away and they have lost three on the spin - conceding 11 goals in those fixtures.
What better then than to run into a team running their legs off to impress a new manager.
What better than running into a team you haven't beaten in 61 years?
The Terriers have it all to do.

So are you, the fans, happy to see Sam Allardyce at Everton? Does he deserve his chance? Will he deliver?
The pundits can talk as much as they want, the club can issue a glossy press release full of warm words from the new man but it's you guys that matter most. Send me your views to #bbcfootball.
Former Liverpool midfielder and coach Sammy Lee will flank Allardyce in the dugout, he's smiling too.
