    Huddersfield 0-0 Brighton

There has been plenty to encourage the home fans in these opening stages and they're making themselves heard. Lewis Dunk has to cut out a dangerous cross from the right flank but concedes the game's first corner...

    Huddersfield 0-0 Brighton

Huddersfield are awake and up for this. Every time the ball goes to the Brighton defence or goalkeeper, Tom Ince and Steve Mounie charge to close the man in possession down. It's an excellent high press. Can they keep it up?

And now that's the result... An aimless long ball is well chased by Mounie and the Huddersfield striker volleys the dropping ball on target, resulting in a diving save from Mat Ryan low to his left.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Brighton

Nice! Glenn Murray is a man in form and with delivery like this it is no wonder. Dale Stephens whips a beautiful looping ball in from the right wing right onto the head of the striker who in turn produces a smart save from Jonas Lossl. Sadly for Brighton, Murray was offside so it wouldn't have counted anyway.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Brighton

Huddersfield have had the possession in the first few minutes without doing much with it. Goalkeeeper Jonas Lossl aimlessly hoofs the ball out of play. Snow is starting to fall in Yorkshire...

When I look at this game from the point of view of both managers, I am thinking why not have a bit of a go here to try to nick all three points?

Will either team do that? I am not sure, but surely three points here is worth the risk for both.

Brighton have only let in seven goals away from home this season, a record only bettered by Manchester City and Chelsea.

That has helped them take seven points on the road already this season, something which pleases manager Chris Hughton.

"One area I've been delighted with so far this season is our away performances - and they bring about good results, which we've managed to achieve so far this season," Hughton said.

"That will need to be the case on Saturday because they [Huddersfield] are a side who have been very solid at home. They've got a vocal crowd and we will have to make sure we can put in a performance."

David Wagner says it's not "must win" and he's right - it's December. It is, though, a game that both sides will have targeted as very important.

At home, the onus is on Wagner's Terriers, who seemed to lack the belief to score at Everton last weekend.

They have to be much improved in attack for this, with beating those around them key to their Premier League fate.

Brighton have been better in such matches so far - winning four and losing only one of eight games against current bottom-half teams. Huddersfield have won and lost three of seven such matches.

It should be tight. It might be on the tense side.

Anthony Knockaert is not in the Brighton squad today but is at the John Smith's Stadium.

His absence means a first Premier League start for Ezequiel Schelotto today.

Despite their recent slump, Huddersfield head coach David Wagner refused to label this match a must-win game but did go as far to say it is a "massive" one for the club.

"A must-win game is a final, where you have no chance to correct something, and this isn't the case on Saturday," Wagner said.

"But it's a massive game for all of us and a great opportunity in front of our supporters to play Brighton and be in front of them after the game.

"There are so many important stories in this game. This is why it's a big game, but it's not a must-win game because a lot more will follow after this."

Jermaine Jenas worries about Huddersfield in front of goal and with good reason. They have only scored nine goals this season in 15 matches. Only Swansea and Crystal Palace have scored fewer.

In fact the Terriers have only had four different goal scorers this season - Steve Mounie, Aaron Mooy, Laurent Depoitre and Rajiv van La Parra. That's the worst record in the division.

Swansea are nailed-on for relegation at the minute. I fear for Huddersfield, they are starting to slip. Their lack of goals fear me the most. Then it's a battle for the third team. I can see it coming down to a big battle between West Ham and Newcastle. Rafa Benitez is singing the right tune but when you look at their squad, it's a miracle they're not already down there.

I can't see Stoke getting dragged into it.

I don't think Tony Pulis would take the Swansea job and tarnish his record of not getting relegated from the league.

Premier League 9th to 14th - Leicester, everton, Southampton, Brighton, Stoke, Bournemouth

Defeats last weekend for both Huddersfield and Brighton saw them slip a little closer to the relegation places which they've managed to stay well clear of for much of the season.

Huddersfield lost 2-0 away against Everton while Brighton are today looking to respond to the 5-1 thrashing by Liverpool.

Brighton fans may well be looking up rather than down but, while the Terriers cannot slip into the bottom three, defeat for Huddersfield today, coupled with a win for West Brom or Crystal Palace and things may start to get twitchy in west Yorkshire.

Hello there! Welcome along to live text commentary of Huddersfield Town v Brighton Hove Albion at the John Smith's Stadium.

I reckon if you had told David Wagner and Chris Hughton at the start of the season that their teams would be 12th and 16th in the Premier League before the festive period they'd have absolutely snapped your hands off.

But, despite making very encouraging starts, both of these sides could really do with a win. Neither has won since 4 November and Huddersfield have lost their last four.

With six games coming up in the next 23 days after this one, now's a really good time to end that run.

10 months is a long time in football.

When these two teams met on a cold Thursday night back in February they were both in the midst of the long push for promotion from the Championship.

Since then the glamour names have all been to town with both Huddersfield and Brighton making solid starts to their debut Premier League seasons.

Today they meet for the first time in the top flight with an important three points on the line.
