Southampton fans have come up with a chant to take the mickey out of their Manchester United counterparts, singing 'ground full of tourists' to highlight the perceived lack of atmosphere at Old Trafford.

Those visiting supporters have not had much to cheer about lately.

The last time Southampton went ahead in an away game was on 29 October when Steven Davis scored the opener in a 1-1 draw at Brighton.

  2. Boufal the key?published at 18:24 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

    Gary Flintoff
BBC Radio 5 live at Old Trafford

Mauricio Pellegrino has just had an extended chat with Sofiane Boufal. It is a fair bet the Southampton manager believes Boufal holds the key to unlocking the Manchester United defence.

  3. 'A drab affair'published at 18:23 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Manchester United 0-0 Southampton

    Danny Mills
Former England defender on 5 Live

It's been a little bit of a Christmas hangover from Manchester United to be honest - they've been poor. Southampton have been okay, but they haven't really tested David De Dea enough yet. A drab affair so far.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:23 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Craig Pawson blows for the half with Manchester United on the attack and Juan Mata in possession on the fringe of the penalty box.

    That went down well.

The crowd jeer, Jose Mourinho has a harsh word with the fourth official and Jesse Lingard is in the ear of the referee himself.

How do you rile the nicest man in football?

Sam McQueen has the answer. He dawdles over gathering a ball for a throw-in and has Juan Mata shoving the ball into his chest in an attempt to hurry him up.

  6. YELLOW CARD - CORRECTIONpublished at 45+3 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Apologies to Jack Stephens and his legal team.

He was not the man booked a few minutes earlier. Instead it was Wesley Hoedt who kicked the ball away and was warned for dissent.

  7. Postpublished at 45+1 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Nemanja Matic has another pop from distance. This one is a tame trundler and Alex McCarthy gathers with a classic cricketing long barrier in the Southampton goal.

  8. SIX MINUTES OF INJURY TIMEpublished at 18:17 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

A head injury to Romelu Lukaku means we have bumper Fergie time at the end of the first half.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 44 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Jack Stephens has copped a yellow card for something off the ball somewhere.

Not too sure to be honest what it was...

  10. CLOSE!published at 43 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

That was as close as United have come.

Paul Pogba switches play with a sidewinding pass from one wing to the other.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan stubs over a awkward chest-height cross which a crouching Jesse Lingard glances inches wide.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan's cross over-estimates Marcus Rashford's considerable pace, just flying through the Southampton penalty area in front of the striker.

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Southampton are happy to get their foot on the ball and eat up time.

  13. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Nemanja Matic sets his sights from 35 yards....and that is less sniper, more crop sprayer.

Well over the top of the Saints goal.

  14. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Just over half an hour gone on the clock, although there are five minutes to lose following Romelu Lukaku's injury and the subsequent hold-up.

United feel like they have been more on top than the stats suggest. But Southampton have had their moments in attack, with Wesley Hoedt's header the pick of their chances.

  15. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 33 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Manchester United's players are sure. Craig Pawson, the man that matters, isn't though.

The ball struck Maya Yoshida on the forearm as he raced back to help snuff out Jesse Lingard.

Was it deliberate? Did he have time to react? Does anyone really remember the exact rule?

    Anyway, it's not given.

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Ashley Young is going to go to the World Cup isn't he?

Who would have picked that 12 months ago?

The Manchester United man twists left-back Sam McQueen with a lovely bit of stop-go dribbling, and wings in a wicked cross from the byline.

Marcus Rashford's view is obscured by Alex McCarthy's unsuccessful attempt to come and claim and miscues his header wide.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 26 mins

The first name goes into Craig Pawson's little black book.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has the honour after a nibble at Luke Shaw's ankles.

  19. CLOSE!published at 22 mins

    Man Utd 0-0 Southampton

Wesley Hoedt holds his head in his hands.

That was a chance. The Dutchman met James Ward-Prowse's corner unopposed, eight yards out, at the near post, but smeared his header across the United goal and wide.

Got to make those ones stick.

Phil Jones is forced to turn the ball behind under pressure from Shane Long.

That is Southampton's third of the game so far...
