Ross Wallace miscues his effort, and skies it over the top. Classy little player, but didn't get it right that time.

Wednesday growing in influence here though... Gary Hooper has a shot blocked!

Pensive start to the second 45 by both teams, happy to stroke the ball around in possession.

Then Forest, like a resting cobra, strike with a ball through to Jason Cummings but the Scot is offside.

After his side fell to their third consecutive league defeat, Sunderland boss Simon Grayson told BBC Newcastle:

"It feels like groundhog day again. We started positively and then, from one of our attacks, 10-15 seconds later, the ball is in the back of our net. The confidence levels get affected.

"There is no getting away from the fact that the Stadium of Light is a difficult place to play, for a lot of teams. It's not just something that's happened this year.

"What we've got to do is stick together as a football club, supporters, staff and players, and do whatever is required to get over this difficult obstacle that's been in the way for a long period of time now.

"I understand the frustration of the supporters but there's only one way that you get over this but that's sticking together and rolling up your sleeves."

Following his side's 2-1 win at Sunderland, Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder tells BBC Radio Sheffield:

"It is a fantastic day for everybody connected to the football club. We were a dangerous team today.

" I never really thought there were sustained periods when we were on the back foot.

"It was a a fantastic away performance and the support was incredible. This is a proper football club, going in the right direction."

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 9 September 2017

    Sheff Wed 1-1 Nott'm Forest

Nothing to split Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest in that first-half, which is credit to Forest really because it looked like they might be overrun at one stage in the first 20 minutes.

Fine character shown though by the visitors, who despite conceding Gary Hooper's opener went up the other end and scored through Ben Osborn.

Entertaining, open game. Well worth sticking about for the second-half.

    Two minutes of added time.

Ben Brereton heads towards the Wednesday box, his team-mates are looking for the cross but he goes it alone and drags wide of the left upright. Another Forest chance.

    Half-time beckons...

Forest sub Andreas Bouchalakis is being encouraged to have a pop at every occasion, in no small part thanks to his spectacular showreel from the win at Brentford.

He looks to be arriving from deep on the edge of the box which makes him tough to pick up. His first dig? Straight into Keiren Westwood's palms. Decent hit though.

Meanwhile Wednesday and Gary Hooper appeal for a penalty. Give over.

Liam Bridcutt is having an influence for Nottingham Forest. Breaking up the play and trying to get them on the front foot. Good battle in midfield.

Barry Bannan is Wednesday's main fulcrum at the heart of midfield. Forest must shut him down to stop the hosts playing.

Forest have another chance, also stretching the play and the cross into the box was swept via a deflection into the hands of Wednesday keeper Keiren Westwood.

The Owls get up the other end and win a free-kick, comes to nowt. Meanwhile Zach Clough is off and Andreas Bouchalakis is on for the visitors. Tactical we presume?

This is where the game gets interesting for me.

I was at the Wednesday-QPR game this season and once QPR scored the mood inside the ground got particularly tetchy. There was a lot of groaning, audible anger at stray passes, missed chances.

It all changed when they scored and it was rocking.

If the team can channel the latter it could be hot for Forest to handle.

  13. GREAT SAVE!published at 32 mins

    Sheff Wed 1-1 Nott'm Forest

Jordan Smith's wrists must be decent, had to be as he palmed away a searing volley from Ross Wallace to keep Forest level.

Did well to recover for the second ball too.

Open game this now. Exciting fare.

    Ben Osborn

Wonderful equaliser by Forest which has quietened the bouncing Wednesday support.

Barrie McKay was found by a raking ball to the left and when he cut inside, he slipped a perfect reverse pass into the box for Ben Osborn, who had plenty to do but drove into the box and beat Keiren Westwood on his near post. Brilliant run, telepathic link-up.

    Parity for the Reds.

    Sheff Wed 1-0 Nott'm Forest

Sheffield Wednesday have the advantage and with their wide-operating players they are causing Forest all manner of troubles. Adam Reach and Ross Wallace are creating plenty of chances.

Funny to think they haven't won at home this season, they are enjoying themselves so far.

Forest need to push up a bit, they're all encamped deep.

    Gary Hooper

Steven Fletcher sends a header high over the top from Adam Reach's whipped cross, and Jordan Smith looks to clear the ball...

However, Wednesday are harassing and pressing and Barry Bannan finds a lovely through-ball to Gary Hooper who coolly turns and beats Smith with a smart finish.

Wednesday have the goal their pressure perhaps warrants.

Ross Wallace wins a free-kick down the right, right by the quadrant, and his swinging delivery to the back-post is nodded to David Jones who can't get the ball to sit for a volley and is cleared.

Forest just coming into the game a bit here. Wednesday will want some reward for their early dominance but it's still all square.

  18. CLOSE!published at 17 mins

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Nott'm Forest

    Forest have a great chance!

Ben Brereton gets in behind but his ball across the six-yard box is stubbed wide at the near post.

    Best chance for the visitors.

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Nott'm Forest

Forest finally get a chance to release Barrie McKay down the left, who beats his man Jack Hunt and his cross is nudged behind.

His corner is not so good, and eventually Wednesday bring the move to an end. But the threat is clearly there.

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Nott'm Forest

Not seen a lot so far from Nottingham Forest's danger men. Barrie McKay has been a revelation and at £500,000 - a snip too. Quiet though.

Wednesday have denied him the position and possession so far. Forest fans might think back to their opening night win against Millwall where they were pummeled throughout but won, for inspiration at this stage.
