  6. 'A fiery encounter' in prospectpublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Cardiff v Leeds (19:45 BST)

Matches between Cardiff and Leeds tend to be lively affairs, with the touch paper for their rivalry lit by the Welsh club's famous FA Cup win against the then Premier League leaders in 2002.

Ninian Park, Cardiff's home at that time, was a cauldron of hostility on that occasion and, although the Cardiff City Stadium is a fair deal cleaner and more welcoming than the old ground, the atmosphere should be electric tonight.

Cardiff are expecting a sell-out crowd of 27,000 or more, owing to a deal where season ticket holders have been able to buy additional tickets for £5.

And with Leeds bringing more than 2,000 of their own supporters, this should be another fiery encounter between the two clubs.

  10. Tables taking embryonic shape?published at 19:00 British Summer Time 26 September 2017

    Tuesday's live EFL coverage

Good evening, one and all. I want to start with a little secret.

Here at #bbcefl HQ, my line manager doesn't like us looking at the league table too early in the season and judging teams too soon.

But I think, by now, we can say a couple of things with a degree of certainty.

Some teams have already shown that they can push for automatic promotion...

... and some other teams look likely to be battling to avoid relegation this term...

I know. I'm sticking my neck on the line a lot there, right?

Tonight, two of the Championship pace-setters meet as Cardiff host Leeds, while Bolton's search for a first league win of 2017-18 continues at Bristol City.
