  1. Champions League familiar to PSGpublished at 19:25 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Celtic v Paris St-Germain (19:45)

PSG qualified for the group stage - for the sixth successive season - by finishing as runners-up to Monaco in Ligue 1.

They have progressed to the knockout rounds in the previous five and were quarter-finalists in four successive seasons between 2013 and 2016 before losing out in the last 16 to Barcelona last time.

That famous 6-1 thrashing was only the third away defeat PSG have suffered in their last nine in the Champions League, having beaten Ludogorets Razgrad and Basel 1893 then drawn with Arsenal in last year's group stage.

However, the Parisians are without a clean sheet in six away matches.

  2. Nae mair defeats for PSG?published at 19:22 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

It's estimated that PSG's likely starting XI will be worth about £540m compared to Celtic's £11.4m.

Neymar has already shown why PSG thought he was worth that £200m fee by scoring four goals in as many games since arriving from Barcelona.

At 18, Kylian Mbappe is already a French international and PSG have agreed to pay Monaco £166m for the forward next summer after a season on loan.

Mbappe is also already into his stride with PSG, opening his account for the club in Friday's 5-1 win away to Metz.

That result appears ominous for Celtic and means Unai Emery's side have won all five of their opening Ligue 1 matches, scoring 19 times and conceding only three.

Celtic, of course, have won nine of their 12 outings this season, their only defeat being by a single goal in the second leg of their Champions League play-off away to Astana after they had already killed the tie with a 5-0 win in Glasgow.

  3. Celtic eye rare group-stage winpublished at 19:20 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Celtic v Paris St-Germain (19:45)

Celtic are making a 10th appearance in the Champions League group stage after beating Linfield, Rosenborg and Astana in the qualifying rounds.

While their 4-3 second-leg defeat in Astana was only their second defeat in nine games in European competition, Celtic have not reached the last 16 of the Champions League since 2013.

Indeed, Celtic have won only two of their last six home matches in European competition and only one of seven in the Champions League proper.

They also haven't won any of their last 15 group stage fixtures in the Champions League or Europa League, losing eight of them, and have never won their opening group match.

  4. Familiar name downs Celtic kidspublished at 19:18 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

Earlier today, Celtic met PSG in the Uefa Youth League in Dumbarton and the home side went down 3-2, with a familiar name grabbing the winner.

Timothy Weah, son of former world player of the year George, nodded in the winner to sink Celtic.

Fans will be happy to see a similar level of entertainment tonight when the big boys meet, but they will be hoping for a different outcome.

  5. Emery not bored of successpublished at 19:16 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Celtic v Paris St-Germain (19:45)

PSG coach Unai Emery is no stranger to Celtic - and to European success.

The 45-year-old Spaniard was in charge of Spartak Moscow when Celtic notched up their first-ever Champions League away victory, 3-2 in October 2012.

However, Emery went on to win the Europa League with Sevilla three times before joining PSG last year.

Although they could only finish second to Monaco in Ligue 1, the Paris side won France's two top cup competitions - and defeated the league champions 2-1 in this season's Trophee des Champions, their version of the Community Shield.

Emery has picked out Scotland striker Leigh Griffiths as a major threat.

"We've analysed the style of the team and his style as well and we'll try and adapt for him," he said.

  7. New energy for Thistle stadiumpublished at 19:11 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    #bbcsportscot and https://www.facebook.com/bbcsportscotland

While Celtic Park is a name that be on the lips of football fans around Europe tonight, Glasgow neighbours Partick Thistle have been renaming their own stadium.

The club's home since 1909 is the latest to follow the trend of being named after club sponsors and will for the next three years be called The Energy Check Stadium at Firhill. Catchy, eh?

What is the worst, or best, change of football stadium name you can think of? Maybe you are a fan of the name change.

  8. PSG yet to lose in Scotlandpublished at 19:08 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Celtic v Paris St-Germain (19:45)

Celtic's last French opponents were Stade Rennais in the group stage of the 2011-12 Europa League, when the Glasgow side won 3-1 at home and drew 1-1 in Rennes.

The Scottish side have won four and lost three of their seven home fixtures against French teams.

PSG are unbeaten over 90 minutes in their six games against Scottish sides, winning three, but they lost out to Rangers on penalties in the Uefa Cup in 2002 after two 0-0 draws.

Their draw at Ibrox and a 2-2 Uefa Cup draw with Hearts in 1984 means PSG have only won once on Scottish soil - that 3-0 win at Celtic Park in 1995.

  10. Glittering talent from the City of Lightspublished at 19:02 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Celtic v Paris St-Germain (19:45)

Neymar may be the main attraction, but PSG boast a squad full of global stars who will adorn World Cup sticker albums next year.

Up top, in a £400m-rated forward line, he is joined by French wonder kid Kylian Mbappe and Uruguay's Edinson Cavani.

The visitors have the luxury of leaving Brazil winger Lucas Moura and Germany's Julian Draxler on the bench and that's despite Argentina midfielders Angel Di Maria and Javier Pastore being missing through injury.

Italy midfielder Marco Verratti returns for the visitors after serving a domestic suspension.

His inclusion is one of four changes to the startling line-up following Friday's 5-1 win at Metz, with Dani Alves, Thiago Silva and Layvin Kurzawa also coming in.

Draxler, Yuri Berniche Izeta, Thomas Meunier and Presnel Kimpembe drop to the bench.

  12. Ralston and Griffiths start for Celticpublished at 19:00 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Celtic v Paris St-Germain (19:45)

Anthony Ralston is named at right-back for Celtic, the 18-year-old having made his Champions League debut in the play-off second leg defeat by Astana.

It is a big responsibility for the youngster, who has only made seven first-team appearances so far.

Nir Bitton had been used as a stand-in central defender in qualifying in the absence of the injured Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko, but the midfielder drops out and Mikael Lustig moves into the heart of the defence.

Callum McGregor and James Forrest drop out the midfield after Friday's win over Hamilton Accies, with Olivier Ntcham given a start.

Odsonne Edouard, the forward on a season-long loan from PSG with the possibility of a permanent transfer, also misses out.

Leigh Griffiths is preferred up front, making his return after missing out against Hamilton after picking up an injury on Scotland duty.

The game comes too early in his recovery from injury for fellow striker Moussa Dembele, as well as Boyata and Sviatchenko.

  13. Nothing new for Neymarpublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Celtic v Paris St-Germain (19:45)

Neymar is no stranger to Celtic Park. This will be the Brazil striker's third visit and he's looking for a third victory.

He didn't score in Barcelona's Champions League victories in Glasgow in 2013 and 2016, although he did bang in four across the two corresponding group games at the Nou Camp; 6-1 and 7-0 scorelines.

The world's most expensive player is sure to get a frosty reception from home fans who will remember his over-the-top reaction to a trip from Scott Brown that resulted in a red card for the Celtic skipper. That came on the hour in the Glasgow side's 2013 loss, before Cesc Fabregas scored the only goal.

  14. Going Loko...published at 18:50 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Celtic v Paris St-Germain (19:45)

These two have met once before.

Back in 1995, PSG ran out 4-0 aggregate winners in the Cup-Winners' Cup.

Following a 1-0 defeat in Paris, Celtic fans must have fancied their chances, but striker Patrice Loko ran the home defence ragged in the return leg, scoring twice.

That team also included Youri Djorkaeff, Rai and former Rangers manager Paul Le Guen and went on to win the tournament that season. It remains the club's only major European trophy.

  17. Finding Neymarpublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Celtic v Paris St-Germain (19:45)

Paris St-Germain crashed out of the Champions League in spectacular style last season, going down 6-1 at the Nou Camp in the Round of 16 after a 4-0 home win in the first leg.

Neymar scored twice and set up the winner in that remarkable Barcelona comeback.

PSG then made the Brazilian their number one transfer target and shelled out an eye-watering £200m to sign the 25-year-old on a five-year deal.

So, how has he settled in? Four goals in four Ligue 1 games suggest he's not been fazed by the world record fee.

  19. Champions League back at Celtic Parkpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 12 September 2017

    Celtic v Paris St-Germain (19:45)

It's back! English composer Tony Britten's 1992 Champions League anthem will ring round Celtic Park tonight as the group stage gets under way.

As traditional for Celtic, given their lowly seeding, they have been given a tough task, drawn as they are in a section with Bayern Munich, Paris St-Germain and Anderlecht.

Can they upset the odds and reach the knock-out stages? Watch this space.
