This is a fair reflection of the game. Scotland fought well in the first half to go one up but since then they have been up against it.

For a group that has worked so hard to get into this position, there is not a lot of gas left in them.

  5. 'Poor defending' from Scotlandpublished at 18:31

    Slovenia 2-1 Scotland

    Steven Thompson

    Quote Message

For a team that's had three clean sheets in a row, the defending for both goals has been so, so poor

  6. goal

GOAL Slovenia 2-1 Scotlandpublished at 71 mins

    Roman Bezjak

Oh no. Slovenia's super-sub has turned this game on its head and potentially shattered Scotland's World Cup dreams.

Calamitous defending sees the ball teed up for Roman Bezjak inside the box and he slots the ball home through a forest of legs.

More Slovenian pressure. The hosts nit together some impressive passes about 30 yards from goal, the ball finds its way to the feet of Rajoko Rotman but he lashes his effort high over the bar.

  10. 'Bannan best player on the pitch'published at 18:23 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Slovenia 1-1 Scotland

    Pat Nevin
Ex-Chelsea winger on 5 live Sport

Slovenia have been the better side for the majority of the game so far. Lets be honest about that.

Barry Bannan has been absolutely superb and is probably the best player on the pitch though. His touch has been brilliant. I don't think any players are doing particularly bad.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 65 mins

James McArthur earns a yellow card for sliding challenge on Jasmin Kurtic. Should Scotland progress to a World Cup play-off, McArthur will be suspended for the first leg.

  12. goal

    Adam Nemec

There goes any hope of an unlikely helping hand from the group's minnows as Adam Nemec gets his second goal of the game.

  13. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 62 mins

    Slovenia 1-1 Scotland

Half-hearted appeals for a penalty for Slovenia as Bezjak takes a tumble in the box but referee Jonas Eriksson is having none of it.

These are worrying times for Scotland. I think the fans can feel that now as they are starting to sing their favourite songs.

The players need that right now.

  16. Slovenia 1-1 Scotlandpublished at 61 mins

Better from Scotland as substitute Ikechi Anya skips past a couple of challenges but the winger is forced wide and his shot is easily saved by Jan Oblak.

  17. Scotland stutter...published at 59 mins

    Slovenia 1-1 Scotland

Just shy of the hour mark and Scotland need to find a spark from somewhere. They have been far from convincing since the break.

As things stand in Group F, Scotland would be pipped by Slovakia in second place, missing out on a play-off spot on goal difference.

However, there' still time to find a second goal in Ljubljana.

  18. 'Very, very soft free-kick'published at 18:13 British Summer Time 8 October 2017

    Slovenia 1-1 Scotland

    Pat Nevin
Ex-Chelsea winger on 5 live Sport

It was a very, very soft free-kick. It's a hard one for Scotland to take. The quality of the ball was absolutely magnificent.

Gordon Strachan's substitute was going to be made at 1-0. Would he have made the same substitution knowing it would be 1-1?

Slovenian tails are up and they come close twice within a minute to taking the lead but Craig Gordon is alive to the danger. Scotland living very, very dangerously here.
