  • FT: Slovenia 2-2 Scotland (Bezjak 2; Griffiths, Snodgrass)

  • Bezjak nods in free header before side-footing second

  • Griffiths scores fourth goal in last five Scotland games

  1. Slovenia 0-0 Scotlandpublished at 9 mins

Scotland are struggling to stem the tide of this early Slovenia pressure. Jasmin Kurtic is the latest player to thunder deep into Scottish territory but the visitors manage to repel the danger.

Moments later, Scotland hit Slovenia on the counter and a sliced defensive clearance results in another Scotland corner.

However, the land of giants that is the Slovenian central defence mop up and it remains goalless as we approach the 10-minute mark.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 6 mins

    Slovenia 0-0 Scotland

The hosts continue to press and Craig Gordon does brilliantly to parry a fierce Tim Matavz drive. Scotland need to take the sting out of this early Slovenia pressure.

    Quote Message

That's a poor challenge from Kieran Tierney, who struggled on Thursday night for the first time for Scotland. He looked uncomfortable on the right and he certainly looked uncomfortable there

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 3 mins

    Slovenia 0-0 Scotland

Slovenia are trying to stretch the Scots down either flank. Kieran Tierney, in an unfamiliar right-back role, scythes down the galloping Benjamin Verbic and receives the first yellow card in this World Cup qualifier.

Slovenia, though, can't profit from the subsequent set piece. It's been a nervous start for Gordon Strachan's men.

  5. Slovenia 0-0 Scotlandpublished at 2 mins

Scotland respond immediately and a short corner sees striker Leigh Griffiths in space inside the Slovenian box but his attempted cross is blocked and cleared.

  6. Slovenia 0-0 Scotlandpublished at 1 min

The hosts come roaring out of the traps and Josip Ilicic tests Craig Gordon with an early drive but the Scotland keeper is equal to the task.

  9. 'It is a big ask but we can do it' - Strachanpublished at 16:56

    Slovenia v Scotland (17:00)

Scotland head coach Gordon Strachan believes his side are ready to secure the victory they need to reach the World Cup play-offs.

"The players are focused," he tells Sky Sports. "They trained well last night, they have done their homework and they are ready to go.

"Slovenia have not conceded at home in this campaign, they are powerful, well organised and are a bit like a club side - they have been together a long time.

"It is a big ask but they [the Scotland players] can do it."

Asked about the inclusion of Chris Martin up front, Strachan explained: "The dynamics of the team have changed over the last couple of weeks. We have a lot of midfield players missing. We are also taking into consideration who we are playing against and their strengths.

"As soon as the game finished the other night, Chris [Martin] came into our thoughts straightaway."

Andy Robertson has such great pace and energy. His first touch is always forward, he always wants to commit defenders. I feel a bit for Kieran Tierney, being asked to play on the right. It takes a lot away from his game

This is a big day for Slovenia captain Bostjan Cesar, who will be making his 100th international appearance.

The imposing defender, who plays his club football in Serie A for Chievo, is the nation's most capped player.

Scotland spoiled Slovakia star Marek Hamsik's century on Thursday. Can the visitors repeat the trick?

The magnitude of the game is huge but they've been dealing with this pressure for four or five matches now. The players have momentum and belief but it will not be plain sailing since Slovenia have a great record in Ljubljana and they are big side; we'll need to be focused at set-pieces
