    Rangers 0-0 Motherwell

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha is having a wee hissy fit on the touchline as Alfredo Morelos goes down theatrically after being palmed in the face by Peter Hartley.

Morelos gets involved, aiming a verbal volley at the assistant referee who ignored his pleas for a foul.

  10. Rangers 'will bring passion and desire'published at 14:30 British Summer Time 22 October 2017

    Rangers v Motherwell (14:30)

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has been giving his thoughts to the host broadcaster BT Sport before kick-off.

"Jak [Alnwick] has been with us since the beginning to try to win this competition," he explained of the decision to leave regular keeper Wes Foderingham on the bench.

"But (other than Alnwick), we have been playing with this 11 for the last couple of matches and they have been getting along, and we want them to keep going in that direction."

Asked why Rangers have not managed to win three games in a row yet on his watch, Caixinha added: "It is just a question of dates and statistics.

"We know today is going to be a tough game and we need to respect the opponent.

"But we also know the passion and desire we are going to put into the game."

Rangers central defender Fabio Cardoso is obviously up for the game and hoping to reach his first final since joining from Vitoria Setabul.

But the Ibrox support will be praying the 23-year-old performs better than in the match he used as his Twitter graphic - when the general consensus was the Portuguese was bullied somewhat by the man he is pictured with; Partick Thistle striker Conor Sammon.

Gael Bigirimana is hoping for a double celebration at Hampden as the midfielder who joined Motherwell after leaving Coventry City this summer turned 24 today.

The Burundi international has yet more incentive to help the Steelmen to victory as he failed to make a single appearance for Rangers while on loan to the Ibrox club from Newcastle United in 2015.

  16. No surprise if we win - Well bosspublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 22 October 2017

    Rangers v Motherwell (14:30)

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson says he could not change his side considering their fine recent form.

"We are looking forward to it and well prepared," he told BBC Radio Scotland.

"When you look at the two teams, there is a point between us in the league, there was only one goal between us earlier in the season and both teams have improved since then.

"So in terms of form, it would be no surprise if we won, although in terms of the sizes of the club then perhaps, yes.

"It is great financially to be here and to enjoy the occasion after battling against relegation in recent seasons, but we are not just coming here to enjoy the occasion, we are here to win."

  19. Crosses and lack of puffpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 22 October 2017

    Rangers v Motherwell (Sunday 14:30)

Both managers will be aware of their opponents' Achilles heel.

Four of Motherwell's goals against Rangers since the start of last season have stemmed from cross balls.

You imagine Pedro Caixinha will be telling his players to watch Richard Tait closely, with the defender having delivered more crosses per game in the Premiership than anyone - apart from Rangers' Daniel Candeias.

Meanwhile, stamina could be a problem for Well.

Rangers scored five goals in the last 10 minutes of games against Well last season and, with manager Stephen Robinson keen on a high-pressing game, the big Hampden pitch could be an important factor late in the semi-final.

  20. Similar form, history favours Rangerspublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 22 October 2017

    Rangers v Motherwell (Sunday 14:30)

A wafer separates these sides in the Premiership table, with Rangers one point and one place ahead of Well.

Both come into the game on a bit of a high and are seeking a third straight win.

Rangers have scored seven times in two games since losing to Celtic in the league and Well have hit the target five times since their defeat by Aberdeen.

The Glasgow side won 2-1 at Fir Park in their only meeting with Well this season, but both sides have improved since that August tussle.

Rangers have gone six games without defeat against Well since the Ibrox side lost 6-1 on aggregate in the 2014/2015 Premiership play-off that denied the Glasgow outfit promotion.
