    Brentford 1-0 Leeds

Brentford head coach Dean Smith saw his side endure a poor start to the season, but throughout he spoke of his confidence they would turn things around.

They've done just that of late, going eight games unbeaten to climb up to 15th.

They've been the better side so far tonight, with Ryan Woods controlling things in the middle and Ollie Watkins and Florian Jozefzoon dangerous on the wing. The Bees need to see this one out now.

    Milllwall 0-1 Burton Albion

    Neil HarrisImage source, Rex Features

Millwall manager Neil Harris confessed his side have work to do to pick up the points they need to compete in the Championship.

The Lions were beaten 1-0 by Burton at the New Den in a game where Jed Wallace was shown a straight red card.

"Certainly disappointed with the outcome of the result," Harris told BBC Radio London. "The worst-case scenario is you get a 0-0 and you think we fight another day as we've dominated the game and just not got the breakthrough.

"I'm not going to paper over the disappointment of it. This was a game where we clearly didn't want to get beat and head into the international break with at least a point at home and a battling display.

"There's a lot we need to work on on the back of today, we need more quality in the final third and we certainly need to be braver on the ball."

He may have missed a penalty, but Ollie Watkins is still full of confidence.

The former Exeter man receives the ball on the right, shimmies to create some space before rocketing a shot onto the top of the crossbar. Close to a second for the Bees.

Excellent again from Ollie Watkins. He appears to be going nowhere down a cul-de-sac on the right-hand side, but he produces a left-footed cross for Neal Maupay, who can't quite get a proper contact on a first-time shot.

Better play from Leeds, with Pablo Hernandez linking up with Gaetano Beradi down the left-hand side. The left-back fires a cross across the six-yard box, but no-one can get on the end of it.

The substitutions seem to have had an affect.

Thomas Christiansen has played his cards, bringing on Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez at half-time.

With his side sliding down the table, he really needs to see a reaction in the next 40 minutes or so from his players. They are yet to fashion a clear opening this half.

Preston manager Alex Neil saw his side fall to a fourth successive defeat as Ipswich won 3-0 against the Lillywhites.

"My biggest disappointment really is the Preston fans who have travelled down to watch as that really wasn't good enough," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"I'll take full responsibility for that as I picked the team."

Neil also saw his injury-list lengthen even further with news before the game that striker Sean Maguire will face up to four months out with a hamstring injury while defender Darnell Fisher was also forced off in the first half.

Chance for Leeds. A deep cross from the left has Ezgjan Alioski nip in at the back post. He gets his head to it, but can't put it on target.

Dodgy defending from Yoann Barbet, who chose not to attack the ball.

    HT: Brentford 1-0 Leeds

Leeds have lost all five league games this season when they have conceded the first goal. In fact they have only won one of the last 26 games after letting in the first goal.

That is the size of the task for Thomas Christiansen's side in the second half.

Bolton clawed themselves off the foot of the Championship as they beat Norwich City 2-1 at home.

Victory also stretched the Trotters' unbeaten run to four matches and manager Phil Parkinson was thrilled with the collective effort in recent weeks.

"I'm very pleased, nine points from the past five games is a great return from us," he told BBC Radio Manchester.

"But, we knew today would either make that run a good one or just average. Nine points is great for us and to go into the international break on a high is something we haven't had yet this season.

"We produced a performance today with quality and belief."

Brentford deservedly ahead at half-time through Neal Maupay's goal, but it should be 2-0. Ollie Watkins missed a penalty late on against a Leeds side who have been very poor in the final third.
