Reading netted four goals on the road at in-form Derby to end the Rams' four-game winning streak and inflict a first defeat on Gary Rowett's side in eight matches.

"We prepared really well in how Derby have been playing in recent weeks as the form team in the division", Stam told BBC Radio Berkshire.

"But, we knew if we took our chances we could make it really difficult for them and that's what we did.

"We had a couple of very clear opportunities to score more than the four goals we did, but when we had to dig in deep and defend that's what the boys did very well.

"We got that win today by having faith in what we can do and sticking to it."

    Brentford 0-0 Leeds

Shaky start for Leeds. Nico Yennaris hangs a cross up to the back post where Ollie Watkins out-jumps Andy Lonergan to head back across goal. The ball is cleared, but that's hardly convincing from the away side.

    Brentford v Leeds (17:30 GMT)

Leeds have fallen on hard times recently to slip down into ninth place in the Championship.

For a side packed with exciting attacking talent, its somewhat of a surprise to see them languishing far behind their rivals in one important statistic: shots.

Since going top of the table by beating Birmingham on 12 September, Leeds have attempted fewer shots (18) than any other Championship side.

Thomas Christiansen's side will be looking to improve on that this evening at Griffin Park - a ground where they've managed just one goal in their last four league visits.

Goalkeeper Daniel Bentley says Brentford are targeting a third-straight win against a Leeds side who are struggling for form.

The visitors have lost five of their last six Championship games, while Brentford are unbeaten in eight league matches.

Bentley told BBC Radio London: "They're on a bit of an indifferent run of form, so they're a wounded animal at the moment, but they've got a lot of talented individuals in their squad and we won't take them lightly.

"We'll go into the game full of confidence, off the back of these two wins and we'll be aiming for a third. If it gets a bit gritty, we've shown we can do that, and we'll do it again."

Cardiff slip to third, a further two points behind, after their earlier defeat at Bristol City, who remain fourth.
