While Sunderland set the unwanted record of being the first league club in English football history to fail to win in 20 consecutive home games, there was a positive vibe coming from caretaker boss Robbie Stockdale, who simply dodged every question put to him about Chris Coleman being set to take over at the Stadium of Light.

Stockdale told BBC Newcastle: "I was clear in my mind that I just wanted to concentrate on the game today.

"I thought the players gave me everything, the staff around the place have been great as well. I've been in football long enough to know anything can happen.

"Anyone watching that game today will take confidence from how the players played. I thought there was good quality to our game. I think anyone watching will see that there isn't a lack of fight here. The players are determined to put this situation right and someone is going to be very lucky.

"The fans crave success and they deserve it, so whoever is lucky enough to get the job and gets this place rocking again will have a fantastic club on their hands."

  6. 'An early flight tomorrow, then straight into it'published at 18:50 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2017

We told you earlier on that Chris Coleman has tonight confirmed that he will be the next Sunderland manager.

Coleman, who resigned as Wales boss on Friday, has been switching on the Christmas lights in Newport this evening.

When asked if he'd be leading the Black Cats out on Tuesday he replied: “That’s the idea. I've got an early flight tomorrow and then I'm straight into it. It's a big game on Tuesday night against Aston Villa at Villa Park."

Meanwhile, caretaker manager Robbie Stockdale has been speaking to BBC Newcastle after today's draw against Millwall...

    Derby have a corner.

It's played in at pace and Tom Huddlestone comes barging into the box as the ball bobbles around but his shot is well blocked,

Fulham are looking a bit rattled.

David Nugent is played in by a fine Tom Huddleston pass but the former England striker's effort is well saved by David Button low down to his left.

    Fulham 1-1 Derby

This is much better from Derby.

Tom Huddlestone pings a pass out to the left, but the cross is overhit. I strongly suspect Gary Rowett was not very happy at half-time.

  11. YELLOW CARDpublished at 53 mins

    Fulham 1-1 Derby

It's gone a bit frantic and the first yellow of the card comes on the back of it.

Denis Odoi goes into the book for bringing down Derby goalscorer Matej Vydra as the Rams try to break clear.

GOAL: Fulham 1-1 Derbypublished at mins

    Matej Vydra

That's a fine finish by Matej Vydra clipping the ball home from inside the box.

But that was all about the quality and pace of Tom Lawrence, who surged forward and played in the striker. A great move and a lovely finish.

That was Derby's first attempt on goal.

Derby have a spell of possession around the halfway line, ending when Tom Huddlestone clumps the ball straight out. That was woeful from the big midfielder.

    Chris MartinImage source, BBC Sport

Chris Martin's loan move to Fulham caused a bit of a thing last season,

The Derby boss at the start of the season Nigel Pearson didn't want him so let the big striker join the Londoners.

After Pearson left, Steve McClaren took over and desperately wanted him back. But Fulham didn't want to let him go, even though Martin was keen.

Still with me? Anyway Martin stayed, scoring 10 league goals in 27 starts as Fulham made the play-offs. He's on the bench for Derby today.

He's on the bench for the Rams. I wonder if we'll see him in the second half, which is about to start.

Derby didn't manage a shot on target in the first period.

Luton Town went goal crazy one again, and Olly Lee thew in a goal of the season contended with his effort from inside his own half on an astonishing afternoon at Kenilworth Road.

Luton Town boss Nathan Jones told BBC Three Counties: "Without overplaying it, I don't want to understate it either, it is a wonderful afternoon for the football club.

"It was thoroughly deserved, because from start to finish we were excellent. Not only did play great football and score some good goals, we worked hard. We pressed from the start and were relentless. We defended superbly well.

"It is beyond your wildest dreams to score eight in your opening game, then to back it up a few games later with seven and then to do it again is wonderful."

Albert Adomah struck twice as Aston Villa fought back to beat QPR at Loftus Road to consolidate their position in the Championship play-off places.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce told BBC WM: "I thought we played very, very well apart from the first 20 minutes.

"After they scored, I thought the reaction from them was terrific. I couldn't have asked for anything better.

"We were an all-round threat all afternoon. We've added that to our game to over the last few months. I was delighted with the performance of a lot of the players today.

"It is never easy coming here, and on a better day we could have come away with a big scoreline."

One added minute at the end of e first half and there is finally some pressure on the home goal.

Tomas Kalas makes a fine headed clearance to knock the ball away from Bradley Johnson just as the Rams midfielder was powering into the box.

  20. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Fulham 1-0 Derby

That's a smart turn by Matej Vydra on the edge of the Fulham box, but the Derby striker's cross to the far post is way too long and drifts out of play for a goal kick.
