    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

Mario Mandzukic is down for Croatia. He was an injury doubt but it appears this stoppage is because he has banged his head. I'd be shocked if he plays the 90. They could put Diana Ross up front and still see this through.

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

Ivan Rakitic and Marcelo Brozovic in front of the Croatia back four are venturing forward less and less. It's almost a back six at times with them just sitting in.

If we look at the average positions the Croatia players are taking up, 10 of them are in their own half. Only Nikola Kalinic (16) isn't. You can see Rakitic (11) and Brozovic (7) are the deepest midfielders.

Greece fire a better corner into the box and there are two bodies close to leaping high enough to make contact. They try to keep the attack alive and Konstantinos Mitroglou is trying to pull the ball down 12 yards out but leaves just enough distance between him and his first touch for a defender to clear.

Luke Modric makes his 103rd Croatia appearance tonight. He should surpass the mark Dario Srna set of 134. Modric may well be 32 but he's not a man who relies on pace and you'd think he has much more to give.

The Real Madrid man could feature in his third World Cup as he was part of the Croatia party to make it in 2006 and 2014.

Three league titles in Croatia, one in La Liga, three Champions League wins - what a terrible career he's had. Not.

Luka Modric breaks up the right and the low cross is good to the back stick, he has a team-mate closing in on it so the ball is stabbed behind by a defender in a hurry.

Modric to take the corner. Someone in the crowd has a laser pen which is annoying him and his delivery is way off line.

I've got a slice of cake I'm ready to tuck into here. I told myself it would be taken on board after 90 minutes but Greece are so lacking in threat I may have to pick myself up earlier.

Luka Modric buys a foul in midfield. He's playing in second gear and still having influence.

  7. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

It would appear Greece are not yet going to go all in and chuck on a load of strikers. No changes at all for either side.

I asked you earlier who your fancy for the World Cup is now we have 27 of 32 teams qualified.

John McEnerney: Looking at the usual suspects for the last four Ger, Spain, Arg & maybe a surprise package in Belgium they’re still a little inexperienced though. Funny feeling Messi will cement his place as the GOAT by leading a talent laden Arg to victory!

Ivan Strinic, Croatia's left-back, appears one of the busiest man on the pitch so far.

He's had 34 touches - that's the highest in Croatia's team - and has won possession six times.

He could have conceded a penalty earlier of course for a clumsy challenge and with Greece focusing a lot of their attacks down the right he could remain busy.

Stats are sometimes described as meaningless by managers and on this occasion, it would be hard to disgaree. A nothing first half in many ways, merely a procession to the World Cup for Croatia.

    Greece 0-0 Croatia (agg 1-4)

Job done Croatia, who could have led late in the half when Ivan Perisic smashed the post.

Greece haven't struck a blow. They clearly don't fancy Russia in the summer. A holiday must be more tempting it seems.

Even when Greece have a little time and space in midfield they are taking an age to move the ball. A dribbled pass to the right flank brings about a deep cross which is easily caught by the away keeper.

As Greece build possession you could throw a blanket over Croatia's back 10 players. It's almost a back four with three sitting midfielders and then Luka Modric and Mario Mandzukic ahead of the midfield three. Nikola Kalinic the only man staying up on his own still.

    Two added minutes.

A quite stunning left-footed drive from Ivan Perisic rattles back off the post. That was 30 yards and struck the upright near the top corner.

Konstantinos Mitroglou gets down the right for Greece and clips a ball into the six-yard box which Zeca flicks on. It briefly looks like someone will arrive onto this at the back post but Danijel Subasic palms it away before contact can be made.

What this lot wanted was an early goal to really light things up.

What they are getting is a flat display - and that's being kind.

Typically we associate Greek stadia with flares, noise, passion, intimidation. I've seen under-10 fixtures be more hostile than this offering though.

Dejan Lovren wins a header with all the authority he lacks when in a Liverpool shirt. He clatters his man in the process and from the free-kick Greece again find nothing but fresh air with the delivery.

I guess that last graphic shows how well organised Croatia are. The home side have had lots of ball in the Croatia half but are repeatedly sent sideways. They switch the ball from left to right again and this time win a free-kick near the corner flag when Ivan Strinic handballs.

Lazaros Christodoulopoulos (copy and pasted it that time) plays a poor cross in from the free-kick, hitting the first man. They win a corner, copy and paste the fact the delivery was dire.

We pass 30 minutes and despite a sporadic attack here and there, Greece (left) have not touched the ball in Croatia's area.

Pull your finger out lads, switch the formation to 1-1-8 and let's be having it...

This has been a familiar sight in this tie, Luka Modric being fouled.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos continues to put it about and he brings Nikola Kalinic down. There's a red card in this match as Greece get frustrated.
