Bristol City manager Lee Johnson hopes one of his players will become a "hero" tonight and go down in history.

In 1994, the Robins pulled off a shock 1-0 win over Liverpool in an FA Cup third-round replay at Anfield.

Johnson said: "I think we have a group that's very hungry to prove how good they are."

Football nights like this don't come frequently in the West Country. Bristol City haven't experienced a game of this magnitude since the 2008 Championship play-offs.

Goalscoring centre-back Aden Flint may have calmly labelled this match as the Robins' "least important of the month", given their hopes for promotion.

But rarely in recent memory has any fixture in this region generated such a battle for spare tickets amid the pre-match buzz.

Cheltenham Town manager Gary Johnson, father of Bristol City boss Lee: "I am very proud as a dad. As a previous manager at Bristol City, you always look at the result, I still live in Bristol, I get on well with the board which is not always the case and Lee has turned it around from last year. They have already beaten three Premier League sides to get to this stage so it is a good learning curve if they, unbelievably, get to the top-flight next season.

"I am still a bit old school myself but Lee is into the new gadgets and will speak to anyone if he thinks it will help him. He is good at networking, has psychologists and psychiatrists which help him. He is getting a lot of information for himself and is definitely showing he can pass it all on to the players."
