  1. Celtic without Dembelepublished at 18:51

    Motherwell v Celtic (19:45)

Celtic will be without striker Moussa Dembele at Fir Park tonight. Dembele was withdrawn shortly after scoring a penalty in Sunday's 2-0 League Cup final win over Motherwell.

He had earlier been fouled by Well defender Cedric Kipre, and will miss Saturday's game against the Steelmen. The French striker is also a doubt for next week's Champions League visit of Anderlecht.

"Thankfully it's not what it could have been, which is a long-term one," says Celtic assistant manager Chris Davies.

"He was limping around after it. The more you watch it back in the replays, the worse it gets."

  5. McInnes focus on claiming victorypublished at 18:48

    Rangers v Aberdeen (19:45)

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes insists there will be no added edge to their Premiership trip to Rangers - despite speculation linking him with the club.

The 46-year-old has been a favourite for the Ibrox vacancy since Pedro Caixinha was sacked last month.

However, McInnes has said his future lies at Pittodrie and is focusing on claiming a win tonight.

Aberdeen supporters travel to Ibrox "in good voice and expectation," says Derek McInnes

"Three points is the main objective, regardless of the opponent," said McInnes.

"Both sets of players and certainly supporters will look at the fixture as one of the better fixtures and one that they'll relish and so they should - going and playing in front of 50,000 I think is great for any player to go and show what they're about.

"I've always wanted my team to be confident and carry themselves in the right way.

"Hopefully, we can just talk about the performance and talk about a winning performance.

"Our supporters have sold out their allocation and go down there in good voice and expectation. Last year was the first time in a long period where we managed to get a result [at Ibrox, May's 2-1 win].

  8. Old foes meet again...published at 18:45

There's little chance of the Premiership's big guns of feeling "absence makes the heart grow fonder".

Rangers lock horns with Aberdeen in the first of two meetings in five days; meanwhile, League Cup winners Celtic face Motherwell at Fir Park in the second of three matches in seven days.

Does this diminish the collective appetite? Not a chance. There's something extra special about midweek football under the floodlights.
