"We couldn't have done any more," Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder told Sky Sports.

"The reaction from last week was first class.

"The players have got to stick their chests out and give a performance and they gave a performance, it's exactly what we're about as a football club.

"All I can look at and measure is the performance in terms of the attitude and the way we played tonight and I thought it was first class.

"It's a tough one to take when you get done as late as that, but there it is."

City boss Lee Johnson says Korey Smith could be out for some time after the challenge from John Fleck which saw the United player sent off and Smith go off injured:

"It looks like a bad one," he told Sky Sports.

"He's on crutches at the moment. He's got quite a gash and is struggling to put weight on it.

"Hopefully it's not a break, but he'll get x-rayed and scanned."

"It's a great win first and foremost and I'm delighted with the points," Bristol City manager Lee Johnson tells Sky Sports.

"Sheffield United were outstanding in the first half and we had to do something to change it quickly because they hit the woodwork three times.

"But we changed it at half time, we needed to get a bit of presence up there and get a platform, slowly we built into the game, we got a bit of fortune with the sending off and then completely controlled it.

Fleck red card challengeImage source, Rex Features

What an entertaining game. United hit the post twice through Mark Duffy while Billy Sharp twice hit the bar, but it was City that got the late winner.

Having tailed to Jamie Paterson's opener late in the first half United levelled soon after the restart through Leon Clarke.

They were on top until John Fleck's red card, but it took until stoppage time for Flint to get the last-gasp goal that sees the three points head south.
